Wa Alaykum Asslam,

I don't understand what the use is putting this up. There will always be people who hate on Islam or Muslims. And there will always be people who are educated and think for themselves. You know what I mean? Don't give people the satisfaction of being angry, it's not worth it.

i wouldnt say im "angry" but these are very popular things people say. But perhaps your right to some extent. Ignoring it is probably the best answer

any advise on how to respond when i hear these evil things that people say?

:salam2: Brother, Here are some facts for you..

1. there are no CURRENT Muslim scientists because of Islam

Sultana Nurun Nahar
is a senior research scientist at the Ohio State University in the field of atomic astrophysics. She was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and then came to United States. In 2006, she was elected in a fellowship for the American Physical Society (APS). Right now she is living at Columbus, Ohio with her only son Alburuj R Rahman, and with her nephew Mohammad Abdullah, a Civil Engineering student at the Ohio State University.

Atta-ur-Rahman, D.Phil., TI, SI HI, NI, is a leading scientist and scholar in the field of organic chemistry from Pakistan, especially renowned for his research in the various areas relating to natural product chemistry. With over 840 publications in the field of his expertise, he is also credited for reviving the higher education and research practices in Pakistan[

Muhammad Yunus (Bengali: মুহাম্মদ ইউনুস, pronounced Muhammôd Iunus) (born 28 June 1940) is a Bangladeshi economist and founder of the Grameen Bank, an institution that provides microcredit (small loans to poor people possessing no collateral) to help its clients establish creditworthiness and financial self-sufficiency. In 2006 Yunus and Grameen received the Nobel Peace Prize.[1] Yunus himself has received several other national and international honors.

Zaghloul El Naggar is a Muslim scholar, Chairman of Committee of Scientific Notions in the Qur'an, Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Cairo, Egypt.
He is a Professor of Earth Science and Geology, obtained his PhD in Geology from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom in 1963. El-Naggar is an elected Fellow of the Islamic Academy of Sciences (1988), a member of the Geological Society of London, the Geological Society of Egypt and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
El-Naggar has published more than 150 scientific studies and articles and 45 books in Arabic, English and French. Many of those publications deal with claims of scientific miracles in Qur'an.[1

Lotfali Askar Zadeh (born February 4, 1921), better known as Lotfi A. Zadeh, is a mathematician, electrical engineer, computer scientist, and a professor of computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. Zadeh describes himself in an interview with Jeanne Spriter James as an American, mathematically oriented, electrical engineer of Iranian descent, born in Russia.[1] (Azerbaijanian computer scientist; founder of Fuzzy Mathematics and fuzzy set theory)

Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (born Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie bin Sheikh Mustapha on July 27, 1972) is a Malaysian orthopaedic surgeon and was the first Malaysian to go into space. He was launched to the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-11 with the Expedition 16 crew on October 10, 2007.[1][2] Sheikh Muszaphar flew under an agreement with Russia through the Angkasawan program, and returned to Earth on October 21, 2007, aboard Soyuz TMA-10 with the Expedition 15 crew members, Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg Kotov. (pioneer of biomedical research in space)

Professor Munir Husein Nayfeh is a Palestinian-American particle physicist, renowned for his pioneering work in nanotechnology. Nayfeh was born in December 1945, in the village of Shweikeh near Tulkarem, in the West Bank. Due to the Israeli invasion, Nayfeh was forced to continue his post elementary studies in Jordan, where he received his Thanaweyeh Ammeh (high school diploma). He received his Bachelors degree in 1968, and his masters in physics in 1970 from the American University of Beirut, after which he won a scholarship to pursue his PhD at the University of Stanford in the USA, which he successfully completed in 1974.
Professor Nayfeh then went onto to work in Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1974–1977, then at Yale University in 1977, finally joining the University if Illinois as a tenured professor in 1978. He has published over 130 papers, and several books, on Lasers, Electricity and Magnetism. His name appears on the "Whos' Who America", the "Who's Who in Technology Today", and the "Who's Who in Engineering" lists.
Nayfeh is most noted for his pioneering work in nanotechnology, and in 1977 answered the question that Richard Feynman posited in 1959 "what would happen if man could manipulate individual atoms? and succeed in rearranging them within their chemical constituents?". Using cutting edge technology in Lasers, Nayfeh succeeded in manipulating individual atoms into the shape of a 'P' enclosed within a heart. This ground breaking work revolutionised particle physics, and has enabled the advent of electron microscopes and nanotechnology.

Dr. M. A. Muqtedar Khan (born 1966) [محمد عبد المقتدر خان] is an associate professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. He is also the founding Director of the Islamic Studies Program at the University of Delaware. Prior to that he was Chair of the Department of Political Science and the Director of International Studies at Adrian College. He was a Non-resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution from 2003-2008. He earned his Ph.D. in international relations, political philosophy, and Islamic political thought, from Georgetown University in May 2000.
He is a well known Muslim intellectual, whose articles and columns are widely published. He is a proponent of social change regarding treatment of women in some Islamic societies, but identifies himself as both traditional as well as liberal. In a sense he is a traditional scholar when it comes to issues of faith, but a liberal on topics such as democracy in the Islamic world, the place of women in society and on pluralism.[citation needed]
He advocates freedom of thought and independent thinking, and he states that it is the inability of Muslims to sustain a dialogue with time and text that sometimes makes Islamic teachings look anachronistic or even intolerant.[1]
Khan is an important voice on US foreign policy in the Muslim World. He has testified at hearings hosted by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee [2] and the US House Armed Forces Committee.[3]
Khan is also a Fellow of the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding. He has been the President, Vice President and General Secretary of the Association of Muslim Social Scientists.
In October 2008 he was awarded the Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Award for service to Islam by the Aligarh University Alumni.
Khan maintains two websites that archive his short articles. They are "Ijtihad" and "Glocaleye". He also writes for the "On Faith Forum of Washington Post and Newsweek".
Khan frequently comments on BBC, CNN, FOX, VOA TV, NPR and other radio and TV networks. His political commentaries appear regularly in newspapers in over 20 countries. He has also lectured in North America, East Asia, Middle East and Europe .

Little Brother, NEVER doubt the contribution that Muslims have made to ALL areas of science.

2. Muslims seem to not be condemning terrorism

U.S. Muslim Scholars To Forbid Terrorism

By Caryle Murphy
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, July 28, 2005

An organization of top American Muslim religious scholars plans to issue a formal ruling today condemning terrorism and forbidding Muslims to cooperate with anyone involved in a terrorist act, according to officials of two leading Islamic organizations.
The one-page ruling, or fatwa, will be issued by the Fiqh Council of North America, an association of Islamic legal scholars that interprets Islamic law for the Muslim community. Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, an advocacy group, said the ruling does not represent a new position on terrorism.
Rather, Hooper said, "it is another way to drive home the point that the American Muslim community rejects terrorism and extremism."
Although Muslim leaders and political organizations have repeatedly denounced religious extremism, Hooper added, "any time any Muslim goes on a talk show or on television, the first question is, 'Why haven't Muslims condemned terrorism?' "

Louay Safi of the Islamic Society of North America noted that there is an important difference between a fatwa and previous statements from the Muslim community. The fatwa "is not a political statement. It's a legal or religious opinion by a recognized religious authority in the United States," said Safi, whose group is based in Indianapolis.

The fatwa, to be released at a news conference in Washington, was prompted by the condemnation of terrorism in a similar ruling from the Muslim Council of Britain after the July 7 terrorist attacks in London, Hooper said.

Safi, who heads the society's Leadership Development Center, said yesterday that "the statement prohibits Muslims from giving any support to terrorist groups who have carried out attacks against unarmed civilians. Groups like al Qaeda have misused and abused Islam to fit their own radical and criminal agenda, and I feel the statement is an important step to repudiating such groups."

Although the fatwa is important, Safi added, "there is a need to become more proactive in addressing the issue of terrorism by American Muslims."
The British fatwa did not name al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and neither does the ruling to be issued today. But a March 11 fatwa from the Spanish Muslim Council on the first anniversary of the Madrid train attacks received widespread publicity because of its harsh denunciation of bin Laden by name.

John O. Voll, a professor of Islamic studies at Georgetown University, said naming bin Laden and al Qaeda is not a major issue. "I think that it is very important for both Muslim and non-Muslim leaders to go beyond the fixation on Osama bin Laden," he said. "The important thing is to condemn violent extremism done in the name of Islam."

Just cause a single person doesn't hear it, doesn't mean that it is not happening.

3. Islam orders its "real" believers to kill people, anyone who doesn't do this are not really Muslims
Even I know differently. This statement is based on fear and incomplete understanding.
Quran 9:5 kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush.
But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”
“6. And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah [i.e., the Quran]. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know.”

4. The prophet Mohammad(pbuh), raped and pillaged cites.

This one I do not have enough knowledge of the battle history of Mohammad to answer.

5. all the peaceful verses in the noble Qu'ran don't exist and are "abrogated"

Again, statements based on incomplete knowledge. Unfortunatly, I do not have enough knowledge myself to be able to call up verses that I know I've seen that were filled with love and mercy...

6. Muslim countrys are corrupt and backwards.

Plain bigotry and whoever said that needs a smack in the mouth from their grandmothers! Simply because you do not understand a countries govermental structure, social norms <and each country has them...here in the USA, each STATE has them>, monotary system and popular religion does not mean that the country is corrupt and backwards!!

8. That Islam is made from Christian and pagan beliefs

Oh really now? hmmm...lets see...how many "holidays" that the Christian religion "stolen" from pagan religions, distorted into a christian holiday just to make Christianity more palatable to the pagans they were trying to convert??

The name "Easter" originated with the names of an ancient Goddess and God. The Venerable Bede, (672-735 CE.) a Christian scholar, first asserted in his book De Ratione Temporum that Easter was named after Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre). She was the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. Similarly, the "Teutonic dawn goddess of fertility [was] known variously as Ostare, Ostara, Ostern, Eostra, Eostre, Eostur, Eastra, Eastur, Austron and Ausos." 1 Her name was derived from the ancient word for spring: "eastre." Similar Goddesses were known by other names in ancient cultures around the Mediterranean, and were celebrated in the springtime. Some were:
topbul1d.gif
Aphrodite from ancient Cyprus
topbul1d.gif
Ashtoreth from ancient Israel
topbul1d.gif
Astarte from ancient Greece
topbul1d.gif
Demeter from Mycenae
topbul1d.gif
Hathor from ancient Egypt
topbul1d.gif
Ishtar from Assyria
topbul1d.gif
Kali, from India
topbul1d.gif
Ostara a Norse Goddess of fertility.http://www.religioustolerance.org/easter1.htm

How about the date December 25....Christmas. THE holiday celebrated around the world as the day of Jesus' birth...

The date of December 25th probably originated with the ancient "birthday" of the son-god, Mithra, a pagan deity whose religious influence became widespread in the Roman Empire during the first few centuries A.D. Mithra was related to the Semitic sun-god, Shamash, and his worship spread throughout Asia to Europe where he was called Deus Sol Invictus Mithras. Rome was well-known for absorbing the pagan religions and rituals of its widespread empire. As such, Rome converted this pagan legacy to a celebration of the god, Saturn, and the rebirth of the sun god during the winter solstice period. The winter holiday became known as Saturnalia and began the week prior to December 25th. The festival was characterized by gift-giving, feasting, singing and downright debauchery, as the priests of Saturn carried wreaths of evergreen boughs in procession throughout the Roman temples.

Variations of this pagan holiday flourished throughout the first few centuries after Jesus Christ, but it probably wasn't until 336 AD that Emperor Constantine officially converted this pagan tradition into the "Christian" holiday of Christmas.

As salamu alykum

1. There are no CURRENT Muslim scientists becuase of Islam
Middle east is full of scientists and researchers.the only thing you need to do is a bit of Googling.
There is athing like dark age in westren world.....DARK AGE.
but nothing like this in Islamic world. watch BBC documentry Science & Islam

2. Muslims seem to not be condemning terrorism
Islam is the only religion which has condemn terrorism....their are countless number of fatwas on the issue...........during last haj imam of Makkah condemned.
On the contrary there is no such Thing from christians there are loads of christian terrorist organisation like IRA, ULFA. Hardly any christian organization has officially criticised the terrorist organisation of 10th century created by church which was created to wipe off muslims.

3. Islam orders its "real" believers to kill people, anyone who doesn't do this are not really Muslims
Nope, plz visit for detailed answer...
http://peace-themuslimjesus.blogspot.com/search/label/Lies against Islam

But you should know this was the tag line of crusader's "ITS NOT A CRIME TO KILL INFEDALS"

Well I can prove this claim from Bible if u want to.

4. pillaged citys.

Islam is the only religion which talks about forgiveness even in the battle field if enemy wants.....there is a chapter with respect to War Rules in hadith.
we can check history to see the falsehood in the statement.

5. all the peaceful verses in the noble Quran dont exist and are "abrogated"
Quran is in arabic and this language is used by millions, one of the specialty of Islam is "Haafiz"(who have memorised the quran completely) right from the begining. Even ordinary muslims memorise as much as they can....so its impossible to make any change..... And Quran is the only scripture in the world in which There is a promise "We have revealed this and we shall guard this from corruption".
Its not like bible where priests have decided to retain, exclude, modify, alter, substitute as per their own belief
101 contradictions in Bible

6. Muslim countrys are corrupt and backwards.
You can judge yourself........Before the invasion of Modern Crusader Iraq was a wealthy country with literacy rate more than 90% people were living a reasonably good level of life, now its just the opposite.
Any intelligent one can trace the reason..

8. That Islam is made from Christian and pagan beliefs
The word christian does not exist in bible they believe in trinity you would be unable to find the same in bible. Actually christianity evolved from a pagan beleif when Roman Emperor Constantine (pagan worshiper of Mithra) accepted the belief he then mixed the teachings of Jesus(pbuh) which was already corrupted by Paul..with his own pagan belief and called the meeting at council of Nicea 325 Ce, there they accepted the current belief of christians BY VOTING(not by the order of GOD). Proof for this is celebration of Christmas on 25th Dec..which was the day of celebration for pagan God of light Mithra otherwise there are no proof thet Jesus(pbuh) was born in winter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Council_of_Nicea

NO where in bible Jesus(pbuh) clains to be GOD or begotten son of God.

This is what Islam says......remove heresy out of your pagan belief.(Already explained with reference by Sister Jen)

Remove the words of historians ,scientific mistakes, dirty things & the words of Paul from bible its all about "Submisssion to God only " one word for this is ISLAM

Last but not the least.
When ever any one claims any thing Just say "PRODUCE YOUR PROOF IF YOU ARE TRUTHFUL"

1. there are no CURRENT Muslim scientists becuase of Islam

Yes there is but theyre not that popular. And what do you mean because of Islam? Where in Islam does it say people cannot be involved with science? It's actually encouraged.

2. Muslims seem to not be condemning terrorism

Yes we do but we don't get media attention, do we?!

3. Islam orders its "real" believers to kill people, anyone who doesn't do this are not really Muslims

No it doesn't. Have you even read the qur'aan or picked verses? Where's your proof?

4. The prophet Mohammad(pbuh), raped and pillaged citys.

Again proof?

5. all the peaceful verses in the noble Quran dont exist and are "abrogated"

Prove it!

6. Muslim countrys are corrupt and backwards.

Agreed. But doesn't mean Islam is corrupt and backwards. If the Muslim countries implemented Islam, then they wouldn't be so corrupt. Look back in history if you don't believe me.

8. That Islam is made from Christian and pagan beliefs

Prophet Muhammad pbuh was illiterate, so how did he copy beliefs from previous scriptures? Islam teaches to worship One God, so how is it copying pagan beliefs?

I do agree in a certain DEGREE regarding your question 1.

'1. there are no CURRENT Muslim scientists becuase of Islam'

every communty has scientist, and its nothing that hard to become. but the question lies have they been inventive and inspirational? CERTAINLY not with the current scientist. back than in history we had muslim scientist who were at the peak of science, they use to invent, reserch at the highiest level, and be inspirational figures. even the non muslim community/scientist use to look up to their genious of work !

but now unfortunatly you hardly hear any scientific break throughs from muslim scientist etc, we have fallen behind unfortunatly. but this is becouse most muslims (including scientists) have left the sunnah and quran.

The reason why you do not hear about "Muslim" scientists is not because they have lost their way, it is because in science, there is no distinction between Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Blue-headed poka-dotted humans. All the scientists I listed in my previous response are LIVING scientists and those are only a FEW of them..

from all the points listed only 6 had some truth in it but even part of that is wrong. However if you travel to the arabian peninsula (especially qatar, kuwait, Bahrain and UAE) today, you will forget Manhattan! Expats do all the work there while the locals arabs count money! Obviously not all of them are rich but they do enjoy some of the highest living standards (from a purely material perspective).

How can the beloved Prophet :saw: rape a lady? This is clearly a LIE.

There are lies against Allaah azza wa jal and His Messenger :saw: that are far worse. There are even YouTube Channels dedicated to spread their filth. They leave stupid comments, full of profanity and all of them refer to the marriage of Aa'isha to the beloved Prophet :saw:. There are idiots who even make fun of Allaah. You must have an infinite length of guts or an infinite amount of ignorance to do that.

May Allaah curse them.

sorry i disagree, as we muslim are in the fireing end at the moment its due to going away from sunnah and quran, and this is what even the scholers say. education is very important, and islam emphasises the importance to be the best in whatever field you are in, but i will repeat AGAIN that their are scientist in every COMMUNITY BUT : 1) muslim scientist are hardly well known and have not contributed in a sence of any scientific BREAK THROUGHS at this current day and age.
2) even if their are a FEW good scientist there are those who are in name as muslim but not in practice.

Its good if you could read how in the past the MUSLIM scientist were inventers and came out with medical break throughs...can you name me such at this current day? dont think so. Furthermore back in them days people from the WEST went to the middle east to gain knowledge about science etc but rather at the day and age we are in now it has become the oposite, were muslims have to travel to the west for education.

I can not make factual statements about the condition of the Ummah, but, I will agree that Muslims are in the firing sights right now due to world events. I do think however that to generalize about the whole based on the parts is incorrect and does not show the mercy that Allah has set as a mode of behavior.

Based on her work on atomic processes of Iron, Nahar is also called "The Iron Lady"[1] by astronomers. Physicists and astronomers around the world use her computationally intensive mathematical models of the Iron atom when interpreting complicated spectra produced by high-energy astrophysical processes, such as those that occur near black holes at the centers of active galaxies.

She has 28 different awards listed on her Wikipedia page.

Mostafa A. El-Sayed is an Egyptian-American chemical physicist, a leading nanoscience researcher, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a US National Medal of Science laureate. He is also known for the spectroscopy rule named after him, the El-Sayed rule.

How's THAT for cool!! Your own chemistry rule named after you! Those are just 2 out of the numerous Muslims listed on the Wikipedia page.

2) even if their are a FEW good scientist there are those who are in name as muslim but not in practice.

You know each and every one of them? You can judge whether they are "good muslims" or just "practicing"? Be careful brother.

i just want to ask this...that back then the western people use to go travel to the middle east to gain knowledge about science etc (specially bhagdad), and did you know bhagdad had the first university in the world but what has happend to it now? its in ruin. people dont go to the middle east anymore to gain education in science, the western universitys/scientist have taken the upper hand.
