U.S. Soldiers Spreading Christian Faith in Afghanistan
"Be Witnesses For Jesus And Hunt Them Down" - Says Commander

What is the difference between the early Christians spreading their beiefs and today's Christian Soldiers?

Look at our U.S. soldiers promoting their religion to the people in Afghanistan - and the early Christians following Paul's orders to go spread the word for Jesus to the Roman empire.

For one thing, the US military has the most letahl weapons in the history of the world. An easy task to force ideas of faith on an illiterate population. The first Christians were more like the humble villagers of Norther Pakistan and Afghanistan, with little if anything of the material world.

According to well documented news reports, the U.S. Soldiers are being encouraged to spread the message of their Christian faith among Afghanistan’s predominantly Muslim population. Aljazeera showed Military chaplains stationed in the U.S. air base at Bagram with Bibles printed in the country’s main Pashto and Dari languages.

In one recorded sermon, Lt. Col. Gary Hensley, the chief of the U.S. military chaplains in Afghanistan, is seen telling Soldiers that ...
...as followers of Jesus Christ, they all have a responsibility “to be witnesses for him”. “The special forces guys — they hunt men basically. We do the same things as Christians, we hunt people for Jesus. We do, we hunt them down,” he says. “Get the hound of heaven after them, so we get them into the kingdom. That’s what we do, that’s our business.” he asserts.

We, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists and agnostics, pay taxes so that the US military spread the world of Gospel. We are led to believe that we have a form of government where religion and politics are two separate entities and the resources of a state would not be used to serve the interest of one or the other religion. But that is theory and the practice is somewhat different. This practice is an abuse of the US constitution and its resources and it deserves a full congressional hearing.

Congress will act only when it feels the pressure from its constituents. But most constituents are not aware of what is happening in Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of war on terror. Unless this issue is taken seriously and fully investigated, our tax dollars would be spent for purposes they were not meant to be. It is not a Muslim vs Christian issue. It is an issue of abusing power and the national resources. It is an issue where someone is violating the laws of the land and the constitution. As Americans, we must demand that such culprits are brought to justice. If this situation is not stopped, it would have serious impact on the morale of our soldiers belonging to other than Christian faiths. It will divide the military on religious lines and its consquences will be felt by the country as a whole.

Apparently, It is not only the security that the US military is concerned with, it is also the spread of the Christianity that it is being asked to focus. Obviously, in the military manual one would not find any reference to this proselytism, but in the sermons of Chaplains, this is reflected, In several Churches across the US, pastors and preachers describe America as “City on the Hill” or the “Promised Land.” Some even suggest that America was created to destroy false religions specially Islam.

Some even say that non-Christians are infidels and they do not deserve the same rights as Christians do. These small and big town preachers have already contaminated the minds of millions of Church goers. Children are exposed to this message from their childhood. They grow up in a culture of hatred towards others.

From amongst these children come the largest number of soldiers in the army. So when a chaplain encourages them to spread the Gospel, they are not hesitant, because this is what they have heard through life. Since non Christians would not attend these sermons, they would not know what is happening. Moreover, the Bible and the religious literature meant to be distributed is not be stored at the military facilities, rather it is with the missionaries, who would provide all sort of support to such soldiers.

The news reports exposing such religious zealots deserve to be looked into seriously. Our tax dollars are collected not to promote a particular faith but to protect all faiths from such abuses. Now, the abuse is well documented, the Pentagon and the Obama Administration must act in defense of the constitution.

I am sorry but I must question the validity of this. I know that a couple soldiers were trying to pass out Bibles written in two local Afghanistan languages but they were confiscated and destroyed because it is illegal for American soldiers to preach Christianity to them. Here is a story on CNN's website dated May 22 of this year:

"(CNN) -- Military personnel threw away, and ultimately burned, confiscated Bibles that were printed in the two most common Afghan languages amid concern they would be used to try to convert Afghans, a Defense Department spokesman said Tuesday.

The unsolicited Bibles sent by a church in the United States were confiscated about a year ago at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because military rules forbid troops of any religion from proselytizing while deployed there, Lt. Col. Mark Wright said.

Such religious outreach can endanger American troops and civilians in the devoutly Muslim nation, Wright said.

"The decision was made that it was a 'force protection' measure to throw them away, because, if they did get out, it could be perceived by Afghans that the U.S. government or the U.S. military was trying to convert Muslims," Wright told CNN on Tuesday.

Troops at posts in war zones are required to burn their trash, Wright said.

The Bibles were written in the languages Pashto and Dari.

This decision came to light recently, after the Al Jazeera English network aired video of a group prayer service and chapel sermon that a reporter said suggested U.S. troops were being encouraged to spread Christianity.

The military denied that earlier this month, saying much in the video was taken out of context.

"This was irresponsible and dangerous journalism sensationalizing year-old footage of a religious service for U.S. soldiers on a U.S. base and inferring that troops are evangelizing to Afghans," Col. Gregory Julian said.

The military says a soldier at Bagram received the Bibles and didn't realize he wasn't allowed to hand them out. In the Al Jazeera video, which shows the Bibles at the prayer service, an unnamed soldier says members of his church raised money for them.

The chaplain later corrected the soldier and confiscated the Bibles, Wright said.

Military officers considered sending the Bibles back to the church, he said, but they worried the church would turn around and send them to another organization in Afghanistan -- giving the impression that they had been distributed by the U.S. government.

That could lead to violence against troops or U.S. civilians, Wright said.

Al Jazeera English, a Qatar-based international news service, said its reporters tried to get a response from military officials for its story but were unable to do so.

The U.S. military air base at Bagram is home to thousands of troops from all branches of the U.S. military. The vast majority of the troops do not leave the base and are in various support roles for U.S. troops across Afghanistan."

I am pretty sure you won't return to this site, but in case you do:

Its kinda sad that you have to write "NKJV" after each quote.. you have to specify what version of your Bible you're quoting from because there are so many its hard to keep track of 'em all!!!

I did type the NKJV so that others would understand what the Holy Bible I was using.

And what about Islam you use different books the Quran which has been altered from the original forms over time, Tahrif. The Hadith and Suhuf Ibrahim; commonly the Scrolls of Abraham and the Tawrat; Torah and the Zabur; commonly the Psalms and the Injil; commonly the Gospel.

Do you understand that Islam has taken books from the Torah? That is the Jewish scriptures, the Old Testament of The Holy Bible.

From the Hadith Isalm is awaiting for the soon return Mahdi and he will rule for 7 years. And the Dajjal is the false prophet, Maitreya very well could be the false prophet, he calls himself the Christ and guess who is promoting him and his new age religion the U.N.

We don't know yet who Obama is he may be a forerunner of the Antichrist but he shares characteristics. This is what Obama said in a Church at a Greenville, South Carolina “I am confident that we can create a kingdom right here on Earth.”

Isalm also believes that Jesus Christ returns after the false messiah Mahdi(Antichrist), and Islam claims Jesus Christ is just a prophet.
Well our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the True Messiah, He is King of Kings Lord of Lords, the living Son God.

Also in Revelation 11, God will gives power to His two witnesses and will prophesy for 1260 days.

And Read Revelation 19-22

^the Qur'an was not changed, nor was it taken from Torah, Zabur or Injeel. the Qur'an was revealed to prophet Muhammad peace be upon him through angel Jibreel until its completion. Isa alayhi salam was just a prophet sent to guide the people. he didnt die on the cross but God sent him to the heavens. you called Jesus your lord? but then you said living Son God? so he is the son of God but Lord of Lords? how can that be ? and how can God have a son? God doesnt need a son. and why would God let Jesus be crucified?

You realize that "True Messiah" means nothing, right? The word "Messiah" simply means anointed, something the Jews did to their kings. King David was considered a messiah because he was also anointed. Also please bear in mind that the bible you quote from was not written by Jesus nor by anyone who knew him, but by "followers" several hundred years later. It was not compiled into the "New Testament" until after the Nicene Council in 325 CE, in what is now Turkey, had to vote on what they wanted to believe in (thus giving birth to the Nicene Creed). They decided to put all of their books together and come up with one "Testament". But the had so many different gospels they didn't know which to pick. Eventually they created their "Credo" (or Creed in English) and they decided to select ONLY those Gospels that coincided with the Credo. The rest they discarded (see so the new Testament was put together more or less by luck and lottery).

Even as a practicing Christian I knew that the New Testament was written and re-written by the whims of men (in your case, King James who initially did away with all of Jesus' miracles because many considered them "magic" which was forbidden).

You are aware that there was no apostle Mathew right? Nor Luke? Neither of them were born within 2 centuries of Jesus. Yet their books are considered "word of God"? And you know that Paul was very anti-Christian before his convenient "conversion"...and that most of the new Testament - all the extra filler books, Acts, Romans etc - were written mostly by him. Once again, several hundred years after Jesus. In other words the NT is nothing but HEARSAY. You can consider them the word of God if you like, but even most Christian scientists agree that they are best considered "The word of Man inspired by God".

How many different bibles are there? Last I heard there were 11. And none of them see eye to eye. How can you build a religion on that?

You say the Quran was altered over time? I can say to you that that's false - there are ancient copies of the Quran that were written centuries ago that match exactly the Arabic copies of today. You can't say that of the bible.

Did you know that the raising of Lazarus originally appeared in 2 Gospels, not just the one of today? Yup - it was in Mark too, what they call the "Secret Mark". They call it that because the book of Mark has been so butchered that the whole version of the book is known only to a few. In 1958 a letter from Clement of Alexandria to a "Theodore" was found in the Mar Saba monastery near Jerusalem. Most Clementine scholars consider it authentic.

"And they come into Bethany. And a certain woman whose brother had died was there. And, coming, she prostrated herself before Jesus and says to him, 'Son of David, have mercy on me.' NOT 'Son of God!' But the disciples rebuked her. And Jesus, being angered, went off with her into the garden where the tomb was, and straightway a great cry was heard from the tomb. And going near, Jesus rolled away the stone from the door of the tomb. And straightaway, going in where the youth was, he stretched forth his hand and raised him, seizing his hand. But the youth, looking upon him, loved him and began to beseech him that he might be with him. And going out of the tomb, they came into the house of the youth, for he was rich. And after six days Jesus told him what to do, and in the evening the youth comes to him, wearing a linen cloth over his naked body. And he remained with him that night, for Jesus taught him the mystery of the Kingdom of God. And thence, arising, he returned to the other side of the Jordan."

While you're at it, look up Mark 10:46...: "They came to Jericho and as they were leaving Jericho..." Huh? Does that make sense to you? Nor to anyone else...that's because once again a chunk was cut out: (once again quoting from the letter of Clement) "And after the words, 'And he comes into Jericho,' the secret Gospel adds only, "And the sister of the youth whom Jesus loved and his mother and Salome were there, and Jesus did not receive them." But the many other things about which you wrote both seem to be, and are, falsifications. "

There is much more... seek out "Secret Mark" and you will see. And this is just ONE BOOK being taken apart, put together, taken apart.

So no, I do not consider the gospel to be anything more than a best selling novel with some really interesting characters.

Salam Alaikun I am not too surprised but troubled it is the main aim of the us and the west. For example there is no humanitarian program that is organized by the us government here in africa that you wont find envangelistic organization as the co-ordinator so as people are receiving the aid they are also presented with western christianity. The major plan of the us was to divide the muslim they understand that the more division they cause among the muslim the more easy for them to spread their religion by all means.Do not think the money for those bible that got into afghanistan was from the citizen it was indirectly gotten from the government,i will not be suprised he later investigation reveal this. Now Islam needs a stronger unity than ever in order to overcome its teaming enemies.May ALLAH save our brothers and sisters in all occupied country from them.

Insha Allah they will never succeed in their plans because Allah always has better plans.

Ever read of the time the Mongols conquered us? Most people at that time thought it would mean the end of Islam but by the Grace of Allah, the Mongols themselves accepted our faith!

I would just tell them the truth. There is no God.

Then why would you and I exist? Why would the world exist if there was nothing in the beginning?

For those of you who ask for signs, has Allah not given enough already?
There is no God except Allah and Mohammed (PBUH) is His Messenger.
