My advice would to be read into Islam; the Quran in your own language if you can.

Only convert if you are seriously interested in the religion and if you truly believe in its message.

Islam is a beautiful way of life. As a woman you would gain respect, honour and dignity.

If you do have any questions or queries on the religion then feel free to ask us. :)

Well firstly welcome to TTI and secondly do you know anything about Islam?
No one is forcing you to be muslim but a person who is muslim such as your partner should be with a muslim too. Because if you had children in the future your partner who is muslim will expect them to be brought up as good muslims.

You need to know about the religious practices what needs to be done and what is and isn't allowed in Islam as a person, couple or parents.

Hope this helps

From my limited knowledge, a muslim men can marry people of the book(judaism, christianity) but it is not encouraged.

Dear sister,
Do not convert because of your boyfriend. Your boyfriend will be die, your infatuation to him will decrease. Learn about islam, christianity, judaism before you decide. do not let anyone force you to believe what you do not want to beleive. You already an adult, you can make your own decision.

Wassalam

i do not know if ladies only are allowed to share but i think you should convert in one case , when you have certitude in Islam as a religion
you can know more about islam

Hello Brandi,

I commend for trying to make an effort to get married at a young age. You should always ponder about the future, especially with your Muslim husband - Inshallah (God willing). You should also think about the faith of your kids, when you are granted them (inshallah).

There is a thin line between Islam and culture. Study Islam properly and you can easily identify the two. The reason your mom might like their "culture" is maybe because they are practicing Islamic etiquettes. Islam is a beautiful religion. It is for ALL mankind, no matter what race, color, or nationality you are. We worship God (or Allah - in Arabic) alone. We consider Moses, Abraham, Adam, Jacob, Joseph, Jesus, Mohammad, David and many others (may Allah exalt their mention) as prophets of God.

Islam honors and dignifies the status of women. Islam gave women rights more than 1400 years ago, which was unheard of in Western countries. For example voting rights which were given to Western women less than 90 years ago.

I wish you the best and may God show you the right path. :SMILY259:

Salaam,

Let's not swiftly go pointing the faults of others, especially our own Muslim brothers & sisters. It is what it is right now. Let's just focus and help dear Bradi learn about Islam properly.

Take your time. You are 17 years old. Too young and old enough. Only you can make the decision. You will, InshaAllah when ready. Many will tell you to do it soon. We are all excited for you and will encourage and support you in any way we can. Keep writing to us with all your questions and thoughts.

i agree that you should not convert to islam for a man. however, as you are serious about this man who happens to be muslim, it is in your best interest to study islam to better understand how he was brought up. i was catholic too and became muslim before i got married as our holy book, Qur'an, rang true to me as the only truly divine scripture. start reading Qur'an (i recommend the Yusuf Ali translation with the arabic text and English with footnotes on each page - you can find this at almost any masjid (mosque)). stay away from anti-islamic websites as there are many out there threatened by islam and they want to trash it.

turntoislam.com is a great place to talk to people who were born muslim and the many of us here who found islam as we matured. feel free to ask any questions :) you are here with good reason, little sister.

nice to meet you on the forum.

Hello Brandi,

May your journey to Islam be fruitful and rewarding. Take your time, ask as many questions as you can think of. There is no such thing as a "stupid" question. The only thing stupid is one that is not being asked.

I personally like the site below, because they will read it for you and you can select the reciter you like!

www.quranexplorer.com

Inshallah (God willing) I will call you my sister (in Islam) soon :)

Use the following to locate a masjid near you:

You should first Know about Allah, and start from the Basics of Islam, Like Tawheed. There are Many Usefull information available here on this site in the Islamic Information section where you can learn about the Creed(beleif) of Muslims. If you want to also read the quran

you can search for it in google and try to find "mohsin khan" english translation of the Qur'an
