Help Save Suffering People in DARFUR, SUDAN

On Monday, the International Criminal Court indicted Sudan's President Omar Al Bashir for genocide. He is charged with killing hundreds of thousands of people in Sudan and its Darfur region, and corralling the surviving women and girls into terrifying camps where they are being quietly and systematically raped until their peoples are destroyed.

In response, Al Bashir's regime is threatening more terror against Darfurians and the UN, and appealing to powerful international friends who buy oil from and sell weapons to Sudan to give him protection. Al Bashir knows that he will be caught only if other governments, especially Arab and African governments, agree to help the International Criminal Court (for example by arresting him when he travels abroad).

Targeting Al Bashir is our best hope to end the terror of Darfur's rape camps, and take a major step forward for international justice. Many of Sudan's neighbours are Muslim countries where rape is a scandalous crime – and Al Bashir's henchmen have killed and raped thousands of Muslim women. To raise awareness of this, Avaaz is launching a large regional ad campaign, urging leaders to help the ICC. Our ads will run in just a few days, and a full page ad in an Egyptian newspaper is just 3000Euros($5000), so we need just 50,000 Euros ($75,000) to get our message across. Click below to help:

Many in the international community are concerned that this indictment will undermine attempts to make peace with Al Bashir, and even blame the ICC for threatening peace. Some of those concerns are just a cover for Sudan's oil and arms dealing partners. Others are more legitimate, but must contend with Darfur's victims and survivors, who have the most at stake, and are universally supportive of justice. They say they have seen Al Bashir break every agreement he has signed for 20 years, and that no lasting peace can be signed that leaves a genocidaire with the power to commit his crimes again.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a giant step forward for humankind – a single global court, with the power to try any person who has committed the worst crimes against humanity. It has an independent prosecutor, Luis Moreno Ocampo of Argentina, and judges from Brazil, Latvia, and Ghana. This is the first time the ICC has indicted a sitting head of state, and all the world's worst current and future mass criminals are watching closely. Let's send them a clear message: that justice, and the rule of law, are on the march. Let's help make it happen, and make sure that all our governments help the ICC to succeed in this first test, and end the terror of Darfur's people.

Well if you support this cause and he is taken to court and found guilty it will sit a precedence for future heads of states to be tried. I would love to see Bush tried for crimes....but he hasn't waged state sponsored RAPE on people like this barbaric monster in Sudan. I wish not jail for this man but a slow death waged on him by the women he had raped.

I just saw the video you were referring to, the one with Sister Fatima writing about Abu Ghraib right?

There are many things we can do to help the people of Darfur. If you go to Islamic Relief, sponsoring an orphan from Darfur is only $28, any working person can afford this!

In May, I held a program at my school in which two refugees from Darfur came to speak about the atrocities occuring there and they were so surprised that it was the Muslim Student Association that made the event happen! In front of the crowd, they said that they were surprised the Muslims made this event happen! SubhanAllah!

As Muslims and brothers and sisters of these people, if we don't have the money or power to do anything, we can atleast include these people within our dua's. After all, that is the most powerful weapon of a believer.

If you knew what was going on in Darfur, then without doubt youre answer would be yes.

President Omar Al-Bashir is responsible for the rape, killing, torturing and displacement of over 4.5 million people. :astag:

You practically took the words out of my mouth brother.

I wish to add the following as well..

I find it quite detestable how superpowers try to jab the eyes of all with lies indited to justify their horrid actions against humanity. They will never mind however, putting others under the microscope and incriminating them for "their evils", as if they are the ones growing wings on their shoulders, and halos above their heads. Dismal reality though exhibits the following; that ***all*** (the incriminating..and the incriminated!!!) are paddling in the same mire of immorality. I think it is only fair that when wanting to speak out against injustice, we need to include it ALL or hang on to silence until Allah (swt) decrees what He sees fit for our humanity.

Aapa, Jazaki Allah Khair for your recommendation.

Solely regarding the International Criminal Court, I suggest both of you watch the movie "Darfur Now". It will briefly explain how the International Criminal Court works. They don't prosecute anyone unless and untill there is a proposed crime commited by the accused perpetrators and unless there is ample proof. However, Bush has not been taken to the International Criminal Court, but to the Criminal Court:

[yt]M3PvIFx-WDE[/yt]

With all due respect, don't just discredit something just because it doesn't suit your convenience or interests. I'm not vouching for International or American Law because Allah's law is supreme. I'm just posing a different perspective on the issue at hand. :)

other poor countries. i don't think that any leader or country should say that another leader in another country must be brought to justice. because as it looks like, most of the leaders of these countries are mostly criminals because of the acts they have committed. they are only after poor countries, and they always have to destroy and damage other countries for their own benefit. meaning the oil, the diamonds, the valuables. asalamu alaykum. and i agree with you about this issue at hand. peace.

With all due respect to you brother/sister...

you obviously read the words in my post..but not the tone..and thus *my point* of them!...

I am no expert in law or judicial issues...so I am well aware of not getting myself into these matters..as I am entitled to speak of that which I am knowledgeable about only!..

therefore, I chose to give my opinion from the perspective of *morality*...and upon review...you will see that..with all humbleness...what the brother and I wrote...will probably be the opinion of many as well..

because...*morally*...the counter of justice is quite easy to distinguish...

neither I..or others..need to read into "the process" of law to figure that out...

Baraka Allaho Feek or Feeki...and thanks for giving your input

Sister Dianek is very gullible of any propaganda against Muslims. Sister, there is a real and much more horrible genocide going on in Africa in Rowanda, but since the Muslim hating media is not talking about it so sister Dianek doesn't know. Hundreds of thousands of Africans are being killed but no one make a noise, and since no one make a noise, sister dianek doesn't know about it and doesn't write anything about it either.
Bush and his gang has killed more than a million people in Iraq and they have left a lot of proof too, but no one take them to court.

What sister Dianek doesn't know is that since Sudan is on the list of those Muslim countries which will be attacked in the future, so they are preparing the grounds for it. In the future sister Dianek will hear and read horrible stories regarding Iran, Syria, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia etc too... Why ? Because they are also on the hit list. And sister Dianek is so gullible that she will accept those lies for truth too.

So, sister Dianek you need to open your eyes and try to understand what this Dajjali propaganda is all about.
Just do this: Go to Google or Yahoo and search "911 Truth".

Salaam,

Sister Dianek tries her hardest. I believe that she sincerely wants to share what she has discovered. Any human being oppressed is against Islam. Forgive us Sister Dianek if some of the members have a different understanding of the world events. What some governments have done in ther recent past in the name of freedom has been evil. I can not write anymore.

Salaam,

Once again I understand the passion of this post. However, I pray that the brothers and sisters who wish to respond do it in an Islamic way. Please start with a welcoming salutation, mention the Holy Name, and adhere to the way of the Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah subhana talla be upon him, by showing the best of manners.
We can only lead with nobility. I pray this will ease communication.

GULLIBLE????????? YOU TELL THAT TO MILLIONS THAT HAVE BEEN MURDERED IN DARFUR......it isn't a "against Muslim" situation....there are muslim women there being raped! It is a corrupt government issue. And my point in posting this was not for any other reason than hoping to help aid the cause of the refugees in Darfur and in the memory of those murdered. You people here are so caught up in pulling a trigger at someone you completely miss the point behind the post. For your info I also support causes in DRC. So yes I KNOW many Africans are murdered but what is sad is that their own people are committing the atrocities against them. What happened in Rwanda in 1994 was heinous but it is reoccuring EVERYDAY for people in Darfur and DRC. So look past your quick to judge attitudes, look past "American Media Stunts"......they have nothing to do with this. And for your info....this did not come from the MEDIA.....it came from Avazz.org, look for yourself people. Gosh....too many of you let politics get in the way of helping those in need. Yes we all no there is corruption but does that change the fact that there ARE PEOPLE SUFFERING?????????? Do your part and help them!

My children's babysitter is from Sudan....I know very well what she and her family suffered there.....and she is happy to live now in a place where she doesn't fear her life or her families well-being. And I know from her that what is happening in Darfur is REAL..........

I think you all are so quick to jump on me because you don't get my intent in most cases but it is the reason I stopped frequenting this site for so long. Guess I erred in returning to it.
