When I was in the third grade we were given a test to measure IQ. The teacher told us when we finished we could bring our paper to her desk and then quietly go out and play. I went down the answer sheet marking random letters without ever reading the questions. I was done in 10 minutes and for the rest of my time in public school was considered to be mentally challenged.

After returning from Vietnam, I took a test because I was an Non-Commissioned-Officer and received my GED High School Diploma.
It is difficult for me to talk about my intelligence and education without appearing to brag because for so many years as a child I was considered to have a low IQ.

I later was accepted into MENSA (the only requirement is that one has an IQ in the top two percent of the world- see what I mean about bragging) and I maintained a 3.75 GPA at Penn State University where I majored in Cultural Anthropology. Since it is impossible to earn money from undergraduate degrees in Anthropology, I have numerous certifications in trades: High Steel Iron Worker, Master Dog Trainer, Tractor Trailer Driver and Instructor, Martial Arts Instructor, and a few others and an ordination as a Pentecostal Minister.

I do apologize for my apparent lack of humility and "long winded" posts, but having spent most of my working life as a blue collar type guy, I have had to hide my intelligence and education in order to be accepted by my co-workers. The last thing you want when working 180 feet up on a narrow beam is for your co-workers to think you are an "over-educated', arrogant, jerk who needs to be "brought down." lol

Seriously, I am proud of my intelligence and education, Alhmaduelah. And, thankful for any accomplishments that Allah has provided me with the ability to accomplish. But, I fully realize that the only thing that matters on Allah's Judgment Day is what the angels have written in the books and if you truly believe La ilaha illa Allah wa-Muhammad rasul Allah.

B.E :)
Why can't I post shorter message :(
As-Salamu 'Alayki, Sister dodo, I was wondering the same thing about you. Just kidding. I think I am probably guilty of posting the longest posts with the least value to my words (with the exception of the priceless words of the Quran that I occasionaly am able to apply to the subject.

I have a Bachlor's degree in Management Information Systems, and then a Master of Business Administration degree, with major in Marketing and Finance. I worked 2.5 months at a bank, and then fled from there. Now I never ever want to work at a bank again, due to the interest issue, so I've been looking at other jobs. Though now I realize degrees practically mean nothing when you look for a job and have no work experience, and finally, none of this education is going to matter in the end on Judgement Day. Sorry, don't mean to be discouraging! The more educated you are, the more your mind has the ability to think and judge etc.

Oh wow! How do you apply to this MENSA thing? What is it anyway? I wish I could try out for it, though I'd never get in, lol!

As Salamu 'Alayki, Sister Tabassum,

Here is a link for MENSA and the requirements are listed. Like I said, I joined because thirty or more years ago, I was insecure about myself and need external validation of my worth.

Once accepted you can choose an annual membership plan or one of several other plans including a lifetime membership.

Another reason for joining is it looks good on a resume as does a good college or university and letters of commendation from the military or previous employers.

tbh IQ is overrated and i think EQ is far more important. However, creativity is the real deal with me!

A'kum brothers and sisters

MasaAllah good to see a thread like this. Its really wonderful to see Muslim brothers and sisters who are striving to learn and keep abreast with the world and at the same time giving top priority to DEEN.I haven't gone through the whole thread but somewhere I remember someone discussing about a Muslim Business Networking.Did anyone start this thread? Also why not upload books in pdf format here if possible just like we have in other networking sites. This would help our bros/sis download lot of material be it Islamic or other study related matter.

BTW I have done Masters in Telecommunication and currently working as an Operations Manager.

Salaam 'Alaikum,

MashaAllah an interesting thread.
I have recently completed a PGCE. My academic background was in English and Philosophy.

was salaam
Esselamu alejkum brother
So you've completed your studies of philosophy.
I don't like philospohy ,many philosophers are atheists
like Nietche ,May ALL-LLAH destroy him.Phylosophy
is not a science there is nothing exact ,there is always
doubt.I know there are some muslim philosopers like Ibn Sina ,Ibn Rushid etc,for them I can read but not for some atheist.
In my last class of philosophy my teacher explained about
Nietche and he said you must learn about him.How Can I learn
for an atheist.Even you know Nietche spent his last 11 years
suffering as a crazy man,you should know it is a punishment
that ALL-LLAH swt sent to him for this dunya.
Tell me it worth to learn some stupid things for atheist philosophers?
I want to know what do you think about that what I said.
