Death of a non-Muslim

I hope everyone is ok inshaAllaah.

One of my neighbours passed away today. He was a old non-Muslim who was very ill. I know du'aa cannot be made for him, but I was thinking does he and other non-Muslims who didn't know about Islam have another chance on judgment day? Because I don't think he knew about Islam, i.e. belief in One God, Tawheed etc. I hope it's not wrong, but I feel upset that he died like this. There was something wrong with his heart and he had like these wire tube thingies up his nose.. :'(
Allaah is Just, right... so He will know how to deal with it. So those non-Muslims that got murdered, raped, tortured etc they too get justice on judgement day, right? Like what Hitler did to the Jews, that was just wrong, so many innocent people died, just for being jewish. And you see when a Muslim has a disease/illness like cancer etc, or is murdered, raped, tortured, locked up in prison, mistreated etc etc, we see it as an expiation of their sins or a test because Allaah Loves them. What about the non-Muslims? Are these illnesses or hardships punishment for them? I know of rude non-Muslims, but at the same time, there are really nice ones. Of course Allaah Alone Knows what's in people's hearts. Like they may appear to me that they are nice and so forth, but when they are amongst their people, they may backbite about me, I'm aware of that but there might be a minority who are actually polite and accept differences.

I want to give da'wah to my neighbours, some are really nice and there is a lot of elderly non-Muslims around the area, where the majority are Christian. I'm not going to pretend to be a pious angel because I'm not wallaahi I have many weaknesses in me, no-one is perfect but I'm sort of scared to give da'wah to them, as I wonder how they will react... (shame on me). I was thinking of maybe making some leaflets or posters about tawheed and posting them through their letter boxes before school, so they won't know who it is.

Backto my previous questions, is there evidence from qur'aan and/or sunnah that these people will get another chance on judgement day? My dad would like to know as well, as my grandparents and uncles died kaafir, and he's really grieved about it. I don't even want to imagine what is happening to them in their qabr... and the worst part is, I can't even make du'aa for them :'(

I hope I haven't said anything to make Allaah angry with me..It's His Will at the end of the day. May Allaah reward those who can provide an answer. JazakaAllaahu Khayran.

I also have trouble with the topic of what happens to those who dont know about the true islam but Allaah is truly just. And that should be a reminder to us muslims that we need to spread this great religion. But InshAllaah there will be a bro/sis that will no better of this topic and would kindly share their knowledge.

I asked a similar question at my masjid and got an interesting response that I don't remember full so please forgive me...but my understanding is the deceased will be granted an opportunity to make a choice, to either enter eternity under the belief they died with (and thereby going into the hellfire) or proclaiming the Oneness of Allah. I know I don't have this exact but its close....inshallah

Well this will be in case there was no Messenger sent to them to inform. But these days every one knows Islam and its a hot topic everywhere. So I think they cannot deny as they where not informed.

Imam Ahmad reported from Al-Aswad bin Sari' that the Messenger of Allah said:

There are four who will present their case on the Day of Resurrection: a deaf man who never heard anything, an insane man, a very old and senile man, and a man who died during the Fatrah. As for the deaf man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came but I never heard anything.'' As for the insane man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came and the young boys were throwing camel dung at me.'' As for the senile man, he will say, "O Lord, Islam came and I did not understand anything.'' As for the one who died during the Fatrah, he will say, "O Lord, no Messenger from You came to me.'' Allah will accept their pledge of obedience to Him, then He will send word to them that they should enter the Fire. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, if they enter it, it will be cool and safe for them.

Ibn Katheer rahimahullaah uses the above to explain the following Ayaat:

Allah tells us that out of His justice, He does not punish anyone until He has established proof against him by sending a Messenger to him, as He says:

(Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you'' They will say: "Yes, indeed a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: `Allah never sent down anything (of revelation); you are only in great error.''') (67:8-9) And,

(And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened. And its keepers will say, "Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves - reciting to you the verses of your Lord, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours'' They will say: "Yes,'' but the Word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!) (39:71) And,

(Therein they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do.'' (Allah will reply:) "Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition could receive it And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds). For the wrongdoers there is no helper.'') (35:37) There are other Ayat which indicate that Allah will not make anyone enter Hell except after sending a Messenger to them.

If the message of Islaam did not reach the person, then Allaahu A'lam, the person may fall into category of "dying during the Fatrah".

And Allaah knows best, I suppose we may be held accountable for not giving da'wah to these people. And I fear I may be of those who may be held accountable, May Allaah forgive me, Aameen.

:wasalam:,

if you feel shy, u can also send them e-mails about Allah and islam from unknown email account. :)

secondly, its good to feel concerned for mankind and we should try to show them the path of Allah. but we must not doubt our belief in Allah as Most Just and Most Merciful.

He knows who deserves to be guided and who deserves to be misguided. Abu Talib did a lot for prophet (peace be upon him) and Islam, still Allah did not write him as a believer. He knows what we dont.

I once heard during an Islamic lecture(and please don't quote me on this as I don't know it verbatim nor do I remember the name of the Imam that told me this) that it's not just Muslims that go to heaven but that all a person needs to go to heaven is Tawheed (acknowledge the Oneness of Allah) and belief in the Last Day.

I have heard about a hadith but do not remember exactly the wordings. So don't quote me on this:

On the day of judgement those who never received the message of Islam on earth will be gathered seperately. Allah (SWT) will send angels in the form of humans who will show the proof that they are from Allah (SWT), and tell them that Allah (SWT) wants them to jump in the hellfire. Those who will obey the order and jump into the hellfire will be plucked by the angels and will be taken to the paradise, while those who will refuse to follow the order and run away will be dragged to the hell.

But Allah knows the best.

I came up with an idea. I was thinking maybe we should make da'wah pamphlets together, (i.e. we decide what info goes on them) print them out and distribute them. Not now though, in the summer holidays inshaAllaah. I'll make a thread about it then.

That is incorrect. Not after the Prophet :saw: came. Islam is the only religion Allaah accepts as Allaah says in the Quran. You accept Islam by proclaiming Allaah is one, and Muhammad is His Messenger. If a person does not believe this and does not recognize the weight and the responsibility that comes with it then we cannot assume they will be given a chance. Otherwise, what is the point to being a Muslim and praying five times a day and fasting and and and.

Everyone will be judged fairly by Allaah's justice and infinite wisdom. We make general statements (a disbeliever will go to hell, a believer will go to heaven), but we don't make specific claims that X person will go to heaven or Y person will go to hell. Ultimately that is in the hands of Allaah and only He has the right to decide that.

And Allaah knows best.
