This may seem kind of dumb, but I've never met a Muslim family. Ever. Actually, I haven't met any Muslims since I converted.
I was told to contact a man at the local mosque who's job is to help converts (among other things). He gave my number to a girl at the university here. I'm supposed to meet her tomorrow and she's supposed to become a sort of mentor, I guess. She's going to take me to her house and introduce me to her family and help me with praying, etc.
Is there any special way to act? Are there things that may seem rude or looked down upon based in Western culture? I've been reading as much about Islam as possible, but obviously I still don't know that much (especially compared to the girl I'm meeting). I'll try to act as I know a Muslim is supposed to, but I'm worried I may do something that I didn't know about that would offend them. And I really don't want to do something wrong because I want them to help me and they're really going to be the first connection I make to the Muslim community in my area.
I know my question is very general, but any help would be appreciated.
