The Ruling on a Woman's Slaughter

Question:
Is it permissible for a woman to slaughter an animal? And is it permissible to eat from it?

Answer: It is permissible for a woman to slaughter an animal, the same as a man, as has been confirmed by the Sunnah from the Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam. It is permissible to eat from the animal she has slaughtered, if she is a Muslim or one of the People of the Scripture and the animal was slaughtered according to the Islamic Law, even if a man was available to do it for her. It is not a condition for the permissibility of her sacrificial animal that there be no man present.

Asalaamu Alaikum,

I have a problem just looking at an animal die. I know, it's necassary and done with care, but I remember the last time I saw a chicken get slaughtered, I never ate that chicken and I couldn't sleep for weeks lol.

Wa `alaykum salaam wa rahmatullaah

That reminds me of my sister: When she was 7 years old or so, she saw a dead sheep hanging in a butcher shop. Ever since then, she hasn't eaten lamb or beef and she holds her nose when she walks past meat shops (due to the smell). LOL!

assalamualikum to all

i had an aunty and she use to slaughter the animal on eid day as her husband was in saudi and her kids were small , and i just use to get astonished after knowing that she use to slaughter ??

alhamdulillah when one gets the feeling in there heart that we are sacrificing for allah swt's sake a senses of pride and strength comes in our heart which makes us to do it , be it men or women ,

I never knew this before..

But to be honest I am so sacred to watch any animal when it is being slaughtered. I dont scream nut become nervous and cry some times.. I have come across these type of circumstances for only 2 or 3 times. But I am still scared of being on the scene

Any ways, JAZAKALLAHU KAHIR for saharing

This question " Is it permissible for a woman to slaughter an animal? And is it permissible to eat from it? " sounds terrible to me. I have never seen an animal being slaughtered. To be true I have never seen raw meat very closely.

My Mum and wife would definitely loose consciousness,if see a slaughtered animal hanging. I am still vegetarian but accept it as Halal,feeding on Non-Vegetarian foods, as per commandments by Allah in Quran.

Still not able to understand significance of Qurbani,howsoever explanations one may give.

in Islam the woman can't slaughter an animal for an obvious reason:she impressionable at the sight of blood.Allah made it easy giving this duty to a man!But it is permissible only in two occasions:if she is pregnant and she has some ormonal changings,so she feel the necessity to eat an animal even if there is no man nearby;and if she is a widow and she has no male son who can do this.I read it in a hadith reported from Tirmidhi and Ahmad.

everyone should slaughter at least once..

Subhanallah.. and Allah is the source of Strength,

I found out from personal experience that their is a hidden benefit in it.

Me,I could never do it,because I can't look at the eyes of an animal while it's dieing.the only one time I looked while the animal was being slaughtered I saw its blood coming out of its throat,and felt really bad.the streght belong to strong ones,maybe I am stronger on other sides,such as giving the birth to a child,taking care of everybody and being always calm while I'd like to scream:muslim_child:

37. As-Saaffat

And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allâh), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshâ' Allâh (if Allâh will), you shall find me of As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.)."

103. Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allâh), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);

104. And We called out to him: "O Abraham!

105. You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers )

106. Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial
