As salamo alaikome

I hope all my brothers and sisters at TTI are in good health and strong Iman inshallah!

A question came to my mind as I was reading Quran the other night and I am curious to see if anyone can answer it or not.

In Quran Allah instructs us as Muslims not to kill our children saying that he will provide for them and for us. Ok it made me wonder then about the women who have abortions prior to becoming Muslims. In other words before taking their shahadas they had an abortion. I heard that ALL sins are wiped completely clean once you take your shahada and you are like a newborn baby or a clean sheet of paper with not a mark on you!

Does Allah forgive murder and abortion along with all other sins once that person takes their shahada? What about in my case for example because before I took my shahada I was a Christian and although I didnt attend church regularly I really did believe with all of my heart that Jesus (Isa) was the son of God which is shirk right? I heard that Allah will forgive all sins EXCEPT for shirk so what about when I took my shahada? Did my sin of shirk get wiped out as well as all of my other sins?

Can anyone find out the answers to these questions for me please? Im really interested to know!

Assalamu'alaykum,

You should familiarise yourself with the Sahaabah and the people they were before becoming Muslim and following Muhammad :saw:

Many sins were rife in Arabian society during the times of Jahaliyyah, defintely shirk! One of the customs included burying baby girls alive and letting baby boys live. Certain companions of Muhammad :saw: were known to have committed these acts aswell, yet through their conversion to Islaam they became the best people to the extent 10 of them were promised paradise.

You said it yourself. Allaah has forgiven everything before Islaam and this is through His mercy, the examples seen in the Sahaabah is a pretty strong point of evidence. You shouldn't let shaytaan place doubts in your mind about this, it sets you back.

Assalamu`alaykum

Indeed Allaah Azza Wa Jal is The Most Forgiving and Merciful and is able to forgive all sins.

All your previous sins before coming to Islam will be forgiven. Its evident as al-fajr quoted in case of the companions (May Allaah be pleased with them) who were forgiven for acts they committed before Islaam.

A man called Amr came to the Prophet Muhammad, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, and said, “Give me your right hand so that I may give you my pledge of loyalty.” The Prophet stretched out his right hand. Amr withdrew his hand. The Prophet said: “What has happened to you, O Amr?” He replied, “I intend to lay down a condition.” The Prophet asked: “What condition do you intend to put forward?” Amr said, “That God forgive my sins.” The Prophet, may the mercy and blessings of God be upon him, said: “Didn’t you know that converting to Islam erases all previous sins?”

:wasalam: wr wb,

Shirk (which is the biggest sin in Islam and there's no other sin compared to it) is forgiven before Islam, which means all the other sins are forgiven as well.
