About Women....

Correct. The goal of the dupatta is to promote a sense of modesty and shame for women of all faiths living in the Subcontinent, even around the woman's mahram. But they're transparent because the goal isn't to fully cover the hair, unlike the conditions of hijab.

Hijab totally trumps dupatta though. There's no cultural baggage :)

This reminds me of something I heard from brother Neuman Ali Khan not long ago. He was talking about this very thing, about how the young brothers with beards and the young sisters with hijab are considered "extremists" even within their own Muslim families. Not being from a Muslim family, I really didn't relate to what he was saying, but now I am seeing it now in this very thread, and I understand now what he was talking about.
.

Brother, if you can find the same video again, could you please provide the link here?

I beg your pardon? What's THAT supposed to mean?
:salam2:
I meant that those wearing hijâb dont pray Salât except for those whom Allâh have mercy on - Allâhu A`lam. And I am in no way thinking about the sisters of TTI at all! So please don't think I meant you. I see many sisters striving here.
Assalamu allaicum wa raahmatullah wa baarakatuhu

Dear brother, why do you use those words for your Muslim sisters, Astagfirullah, and can you please explain us the meaning of your words?

Wallahi I am hurted a loot by your words because you are a Muslim, as I often hear simular words from non Muslims for me or other Muslim sisters who are saying that we wear hijab only to show that we are Muslim girls, but that in reality we do worst and haram things Astagfirullah.

May Allah guide us all to the right path, and guide all Muslims sisters to wear hijaab. Allahume Ameen.

:wasalam:
wa `alaykum salam warahmatullâh wabarakâtuh
I have never thought people wear hijâb for showing off. Rather many wear it because of cultural/traditional reasons. Also its not about sisters rather all people claiming to be Muslims but do not pray. This thread was started by someone asking why women dont wear hijâb while he should ask about why dont pray Salât and follow Tawhîd? It's like people asking ''How much have you memorised of the Qur'ân?'' when in fact they should ask us ''Do you follow the Qur'ân?''.
:salam2:

You know, this is actually an idea I've heard many times over from South Asians. Either it's an excuse, or people have come across such cases of hijabis, but there's a very incorrect idea floating around here that people who wear hijab, abaya and niqab are "very bad muslims. That they don't actually practice at all, don't pray, and just want to show-off that they're oh so religious." My mother has an acquaintance (who's muslim) who she was once talking to on the phone. This was around the time I had started wearing hijab, so my mother had mentioned this to her. And the Auntie said: "what's wrong with her? She's being brainwashed. I see so many muslims nowadays who've started wearing these hijabs, and they're giving all muslims a very bad name. Somebody really needs to walk up to these extremist people and slap them really hard to knock some sense into them."

Astaghfirullah.

Everywhere in the world, I've seen non-muslims are actually more tolerant of the hijab, and the most opposition I've ever seen or received is from fellow muslims.

Back to the topic, so there's this notion in many non-hijabi muslim women, that to wear hijab is to "show-off" so they think they're much better keeping their religion private. A concept of flawed thinking, if you ask me.
wa alaykum salam warahmatullah
Such people are against the Sunnah. May Allâh protect us from such evil hearted people. May Allah guide us. How come people are so interested to tell women to wear hijâb when they dont even know what shirk is!! I know many people that dont know what shirk and kufr is. They dont know what bid'ah is. They believe its lawful for Muslims to eat everything except for pork. They dont know what halâl slaughtering is.

So its not strange why I asked, do the majority of hijâbis pray Salât? Today many or some Imâms shave their beard.
but there was a periode in which my soul wasn't in peace because of bad things between my real faith and my troubled mind.:shymuslima1:[/COLOR][/I]

Assalaam walaikum,

I would much rather be discussing how lovely Muslim women are; Its so hot here I would love to extend a tea party. I would serve up a feast for my brothers and sisters here. I would make Sister Harb come into the kitchen!!

How about a barbecue. I would even make mango lassi; lassi with almonds and pistachios; sherbet with a touch of pepper...spicy chicken wings..and to think Muslim hands would be cooking that.

Jazzak Allah khair dear brother for your explaination and may Allah reward you.

Dear brother, I think that our brother did not done wrong for asking this question because his niyyah was good Inshallah.

Alhamdulillah we as Muslims know that praying Salah and having pure Tawheed( faith in Allah) is the most importnate, but that does not mean that other parts of Islaam and commads of Allah are not importante for us, and that we should try to advice each others about everything that Allah and our Prophet sallahu aleyhi wa salam command us for our own good on this World and Ahiraah.

May Allah bless you

Assalaam walaikum,

As we approach Ramadan we need to time to reflect. We need to demonstrate that we indeed have kind hearts.

We do not know all women. We can not answer for all women. We can not make speculation. We are told not to speculate.

Make dua that more Muslims, women AND men adhere to Islam. Do your part with salat, zakat, and good deeds.

And quit blaming the West. It has nothing to do with location. We have to examine the contents of our hearts.

:salam2:

I didn't read the entire thread yet, but glancing over it, this is a wonderful post. Very well said, Aapa <3

As salamo alaikome

To be honest I am finding myself so tired of everyone but especially our brothers picking on our sisters!

I was about to post about my recent trip to Casablanca here in Morocco and how more women were wearing proper Islamic dress than the men were!

Then I read sister Aapa's post and I must agree with what she said. Rather than getting angry and letting the shaitan win these days before the blessed month of Ramadan I think we should all take sister Aapa's advice and look at ourselves first before we look at our brother or sister!

Is there anything we could be doing to better serve Islam? Is there something we could either add or take away from our thoughts and actions to better please Allah?

This is what we should have on our minds these days. It is time to reflect on ourselves and not so much on what our brothers and sisters are doing.

We dont know someones reasons for not wearing the Islamic clothing and I agree again with sister Aapa that instead of criticising we should pray for our brothers and sisters. May Allah strengthen our Iman and make us ALL better Muslims. Ameen :tti_sister:

To the Op,instead of complaining about why women don't wear hijab, you can wrie about the benefits of hijab or you can distribute them at your nearest school, college, hospitals. These are the places most visited by women.

Assalaam walaikum,

The answers provided by the sisters on this thread are sufficient. We have an attitude. We wish to fulfill the Laws of Allah. We cover. Now remember, we are women. We fuss about fashion. We get silly about parties. We have decided on the menu. Every sister is going to make her dish. Ramadan is upon us..let us get ready to feast.

Women who cover are happy women.

i just wana asking that why today's women not wearing hijaab, why they don't cover their head, thr whole body through proper cloths..??? why they prefer a bad cloths and why they use so thin cloths..???

Today our sisters why don't use dupatas on their head even when they are at home..??? why they follow the european culture instead of our nice religion ISLAM.....????

thanx you brother....

:salam2:
Bismillah,

Akhi, everyone has their own struggles. Our sisters will soon find that Hijab is the best for them, but for many of our sisters, it takes courage. Islam is a religion of ease, Allah is merciful and kind to us all....He will insha'Allah guid them to the path of truth. Lets make dua for them....because wallahi, it is difficult to keep your Hijab on in this age and time. No one really understands the struggles of Muslim sisters, it takes courage and dedication to be able to walk with a Hijab on-and some of us dont have that YET.
