Christians 'face deportation' in Saudi Arabia

Dozens of Ethiopian Christians are facing deportation from Saudi Arabia after authorities raided a private prayer service in Jeddah, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).

The group was reportedly arrested in a private home in Jeddah in mid-December. Most of the 35 detainees are women, and three of them told the US-based group that they were strip-searched by police.

HRW said it spoke to three detainees, two women and one man, by telephone from prison.

One of them said the men were beaten, and also complained of inadequate medical care and poor sanitation at the jail.

"Two of the women said that officials there forced the women to strip, and then an officer inserted her finger into each of the women’s genitals, under the pretext of searching for illegal substances hidden inside their bodies," the report said.

"Officers also kicked and beat the men in Buraiman prison, and insulted them as 'unbelievers'."

The group now faces possible deportation for "illicit mingling," though HRW said Saudi Arabia has no law defining that offence.

Unrelated men and women are forbidden to mingle in public, though they are generally allowed a degree of freedom in private.

'Intolerant ways'

Saudi Arabia officially bans the public practice of any religion other than Islam.

The kingdom said in 2006 that it would allow non-Muslims to practice their religions in private, but the kingdom's notorious religious police continue to periodically crack down on private services.

The Saudi interior ministry did not respond to a request for comment.

"While King Abdullah sets up an international interfaith dialogue centre, his police are trampling on the rights of believers of others faiths," said Christoph Wilcke, a senior Middle East researcher at HRW, referring to a Saudi-funded "centre for interreligious and intercultural dialogue" established in Vienna last year.

"The Saudi government needs to change its own intolerant ways before it can promote religious dialogue abroad."

like burning of churches and mosques.
If the Christians and Catholics did not do something about their Holy Land in Jerusalem

Interfaith is kufr. Not only is he promoting this type of interfaith, but even interfaith with ''Muslim sects'', sects that are outside the pale of Islam.

Brother, just don't take the face value of whatever is said. Moreover, this is just media and media often gives the "corrupted" version of what really goes on. And the king has Ulemma' who advice him and definitely they won't allow practices which will hamper Islam.

I'm not trying to defend KSA if this is true, two wrongs doesn't make one right, but it's really ironic that the west can do what they want to people and then go check and talk about others. Who will ask what happened to `Afia Siddique and Babar Ahmed and thousands like them?

Has the KSA officials got scum stuck in their mouths to reply to these news statements by asking about their Muslim brothers and sisters?

Hello said, is that they were entered in a non-legal, it is known by the Saudi authorities, either with respect to this Almuammlat brutality in this place that is called and spoke with deportation and not critical of the morality of non-human and barbaric as if they were not Muslims only by name and put more warm Fajaw of 100 individuals in this place, such as the type of hangar is hired

Dear sister, does not metter what non Muslims were doing to us Muslims from ages, and that has nothing to do with shamefull and awfull deeds of these unbelivers in Saudia Arabia, because Alhamdulillah not everyone who has Muslim name is a Muslim, and these who done this to these poor people are not Muslims Alhadmulillah.

But InshAllah they will for sure respond to Allah for this what they done, and for sure Allah will punish them. I feel so sad to hear this and pain in my heart will never stop, because I always thought that non Muslims can only do these kind of awfull and unhuman things, but after I red this for " Muslims" ( because these who done this are Muslims only by thier name), I can never forget that.

Astagfirullah, Astagfirullah, Astagfirullah. May Allah punish them with punishment that they deserve. Ameen.

Asaalaam walaikum,

I pondered this post all day.

It is not that the KSA is intolerant. There is no duplicity about the stance. It is the bedrock of Islam. The policy is quite straightforward.

I do not know the details of the events nor am I going to speculate on what happened. We know that these were deportation issues.

But, we cannot chastise the KSA without knowing the full facts. According to this there were 35 people. More women than men. But, we do not have exact numbers or other data. We know there was a telephone conversation.

The heart of the issue is simply someone broke the laws of KSA. That is the land that makes no bones about the faith that is practiced there.

The question is what is the correct Islamic perspective on this very political situation. Why would an organization oppose the practice of faith in a country that has made it very clear and open that they wish to practice this faith and no other.

Have I missed the boat on this one?

How can you say this dear brother? As Muslims we should not forget that Allah has order us kind and fair treatment of Non Muslims because they are also human beings Alhamdulillah, and this what the police in Saudia Arabia done is one of the worst and the most shamefull deeds Astagfirullah.

I do not understand how someone can after reeding this news only say "people shouldn't expect first class treatment", because as Muslims we should have soft hearts toward other human beings, and fullfill our Amanaah toward Allah, which is forgiding evil and enjoying good.

Anas bin Malik narrates that Allahs Messanger Mohammed (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) has said: “Treat people with ease and do not be hard on them; give them glad tidings and do not make them run away (from Islam).” [Bukhari and Muslim]

Making one bad deed as usuall it does not make the same deed as good, niether it justify it on any way Alhamdulillah.

May Allah make our hearts soft and not make us one of those whos hearts become cold as stone and those who went astray. Ameen ya Rabb.

Dear sister, the matter is about neglecting and ignoring someones wrong deeds, because as Muslims we should judge wrong deeds and enjoy everything that what is good for the sake of Allah InshAllah.

And also sister, does not metter if many time politics sides of diffrent non Muslim countries are accusing Muslims for doing something wrong, but Alhamdulillah it can not be always that they are making false accuations, because we know that today there are also many Muslims who have only Muslim name Astagfirullah and are doing everything that Allah has forbidden.

And Allah knows the best.

May Allah guide us all.

My previous post was directed to brother Ahsens post, with the purpose advicing him according to Quran And Sunnah. InshAllah he understood it well, and InshAllah you will also understand it dear sidter, of course if you read the whole thread carefuly.

May Allah forgive me if I said something wrong, and all of us. Ameen summa ameen

EDIT:

The point is dear sister that we should if nothing else at least condemn every abuse of human beings and every unhuman acts, and not to do what brother Ahsan did with his post. Meaning he did not judge this very wrong deed. This is a point and lesson for us to not act like brother Ahsan did Alhamdulillah.

Assalaam walaikum,

I still do not understand what you mean.

The post is about a political network. It is about deportation. It is about jailing people who are breaking a law.

My point is simply in agreement with the brother. Jails are not nice places.

The KSA has a stance. It is not a matter of agreement about the stance. A group of people, 35, broke a law. They are being detained. Detainees are not held in hotels. Jails are not warm and cozy.

This is a political issue not a religious issue.

I was criticising the saudi jails not the christians. The officers in the jail are no saints. They have the same morals like in third world asian countries .So if one expects that coz saudia is a muslim country and the jail administration will treat him/her kindly then he should forget it. Saudi jail officers take bribes, beat people and curse them so they are like any other jail in the world.
