"The Arabs betrayed the Somalis" - What does this mean?

There were traitors all around, that is for sure. But it it would be naive of anyone to believe that the Arabs didn't have a hand in it. When the west was trying to break Ottomans up, they Ottomans could have handled them had it not for the Arabs and their revolt/rebellion that has Ottomon forces divided. The Ottomans had a complete train system going through arabian desert into madinah/makkah. The traitors with their british master destroyed that and now after 60 years, these very same arabs are hiring chinese to build a train system like the one their fathers destroyed.
I happen to know Somalis as well and most of the ones I've come across are speaking arabic not somali. It would do you good to get off your high horse and stop acting all arrogant, no body likes a fool talking down to them.

what if we do as Aapa wrote... slow and calm down there a little. One knows Somalis speak Somali and Arabic and other only Somali. I know Somalis speaks many other languages as in they family might have people from other clans speaking other languages. Just try to keep calm.

Somalia doesn't need any help for food from anybody my brother. We have the most rich soil and sea in this earth but Kufars and their helpers you know what I mean, are boycotting us just because we are Muslim and are stealing our resources day and night. Allah is just and now Kufars are punishing their helpers who betrayed Muslims and Islam.

That is why my Somali brothers and sisters are suffering. Allah Blessed their land with oil, but that at the same time the presence of oil lured the West to plant a corrupt government just as any other oil-rich state. People of Somalia have been suffering for over 20 years yet, like in Palestine, Arabs failed to provide assistance. If the Khaleej decides to sanction the West, almost every Western government would collapse in a matter of weeks....but dirty kings are to satisfied with their dunya to care.

As a matter of fact, we all including Somalians did lots of mistakes to deserve all that suffering. But we have never done and will never do what the most Arabs has done to Somali people who immigrated to their country for the last 22 years. The only medicine for all of us,to get out of this is to make TOWBAH and to go back to Allah. May Allah make us good and sincere Muslims ameen

I wrote my response because the thread was going in two thousand directions. I dug up an old article from the Washington Post. Although it was written in 1993 it may as well have been written yesterday.
You asked a genuine question. If you ask a Somali who they are they will tell you they are Arabs. They love Imam Shafi. All the ones I have been blessed to meet adhere to Islam with sincerity.
We need to understand when we discuss threads like this we are entering the political arena and not leaving the religious arena. Thus we need to gain a historical and economic perspective.

Not just somali people, they treat all non-arabs like slaves. This even came out in the UN human rights report,condemning them for this modern slavery where they abuse, rape and even murder expat workers and get away with it. Everyone is in on it,from rulers who run over their workers with their jeeps to your local citizens who burn their domestic workers with hot irons and throw them off 3 story buildings to the so called "islamic" courts that protect them. It's no wonder all of SE Asia curses them every time they speak about them.

I remember the Khaleeej went nuts when a maid threw a family's toddler in the washing machine which eventually left him dead. They made her seem so evil, when in fact it was their endless physical, verbal and emotional abuse that had drove her to commit such action. They treat their workers so bad! I hope I can live long enough to see their oil fields dry out.

The problem is that people like to bash Arabs here. It would be better if they bashed their own people. Others here believe Somalis are Arabs and speak Arabic (as their FIRST language), which is wrong, just proves our ignorance about Somalia. The moderators should close this thread.

sister if is fault for muslims going down, then all muslims are equal in this fault, as for historical fact, please sister dont talk from what you heard in forums, they took from movies or youtube etc sources, history is writen in books and it is spoken by historians and people that know thos fact

ottoman state has three stages-period's of sultans, in first stage thos sultans where different-more devoted and more firm in deen etc, in second stage they where different, in last stage the sultans where more weaker and they where lossing lands by itself, the ottoman state was not always strong, to have a strong state you need a big amount of income, and that income was not the same always, at the time of 3 last sultans-ottoman state had some fight wich where done by their pasha, this battle destroid more the weak ottoman state that was at that time
ottoman state was waiting the help with money from france and one other europian contrie so that they can fight rusia, they had agrement with them, but france and other contrie didnt participate and sultan didnt start the battle against rusia, but one pasha started the batle without asking the sultan and then more big problems came, rusia was wining all the beatles and rusia after a time was near Islambull-Istambull, they where ready to fight and to come to Isambull, but ottoman state and rusia made agrement that ottoman state will leave some contries to rusia and ottomans will withdraw back, so ottoman state in that time was more weaker, and after that they where lossing batle in places wich they had in africa and midle east against british and other contries
the last sultan AbdulHamid he reduce the bugdet becasue they didnt have money as before to spend for gov issues, so ottoman state was at breakdown, and the one who break it up where the nacionalist inside the ottoman state
sufis, esharis, always talk bad agains saudia, they blame that tribe for ottoman state, subhanAllah, its like blaming a child 3 old that he is not helping family to fight against evil people !!!, saudi had no power and not effect in this big issues, that place olso didnt bring income to ottoman state, najd, hijaz, kasim, regions didnt bring no income to sultan, it was nothing for ottoman state thos places
but egypt was to much importen for ottoman state, and nobody from sufis, and esharis dont blame the sufi pasha that made egypt as new state and that he separated from ottoman state, that was big damage to ottoman state when egypt separated, it was from bigest strike againts ottoman state
actualy we as muslims should be happy that saudis took over saudia, becasue at that time british where invading all muslim contries, when saudis took over najd, hijaz and kasim, british could not enter there, they had no benefit and they didnt whant to go in war in the place where there was no benefit for them at that time
olso saudis are the only one state at that time that called to shairah state and they where ready to mage agrement with british and to let iraq to saudis, that would of been very good, but the new egypt gov didnt do nothing to unite muslims under shariah state-and sufis and esharis dont blame them for nothing, but they alwasy attack saudis state just becasue saudis removed all graves that where worshiped in saudia by sufis in madinah and makkah, people where going to graves and praying to dead people
i am not saying that saudi tribe is good etc, just that we as muslims had benefit from them, becasue when they took over najd, hijaz-(makkah, madinah, jedah), the importen places where under hand of people that didnt worship graves etc, they had corect adiqah about this issue
we should not forget that sultans where effected by sufi sects, the ottomans state helped sufis to spread around muslims contries, before they where not know as sect with influence

so please bro and sister dont go in issues arabs didnt do this, or somalis are like this, or pakistanis are like this, we have people how are bad and good in every nation, and we have alot of ignorant people amongs arabs, somalis, etc, so dont generalise things
what we need is what i said in my other post here, we need to start from ourself and to do things wich we can do, we leave things wich we can do and we exuse ourself, in other hand we are so weak in things wich we can doo and we are obligated to do, there is big disorder amongs practising muslims this issue, we dont do actions by the order wich they have, but we mix issue and that is why we canot achive our goals

and may I add that since Somalis are not Arabs then how can they speak Arabic as their 1st language? Somalis write with Roman letters (A B C D) and not Arabic letters (Alif, Ba, Ta, Tha).
