well that is the case malaysia as well..they do not allow niqab in the canmpuss.but still many foreigners wore it but no one took action..but niqab is one of the clothing rules in my university ad we are not quppose to wear it...

i just hope things wont get that bad

While I agree that there is no basis for mandating the niqaab as the evidence used is debatable, it is still an option that only the woman has the right to peruse, so the cleric had no right to ask her to remove her niqaab. It would have been better if he asked her why she wore it and then explained why it wasn't necessary and then left the choice to her.

To ask her??? To ask her??? To ask her??? Isnt suppose to be that he like educated persone should know why some Muslim women are wearing niqab,why pious women in the time of our Prophet s.a.w.s. wear it,and why his wifes radiallahu anhum wear it, SubhnaAllah. Alhamdulillah he should know that,so by that it is not necceserry to ask Muslim women why does she wear hijaab or niqab. Alhamdulillah.
And they are aloweing women to go almsot without clothes on beachs in Sharmal Sheikh

One thing that I dont understand is why hasn't anyone challenged the ruling in court ? Don't they all have laws like 'freedom to practice religion' etc etc ?

Cases like these stand a good chance in Western countries, so I would imagine that it be the same in countries like Egypt , malaysia. Does anyone know if someone has taken it to the courts ?
