Narrated Abu Hurairah: Jibril (Gabriel) came to the Prophet (SAW) and said, "O Allah’s Messenger! This is Khadijah, coming to you with a dish having meat soup (or some food or drink). When she reaches you, greet her on behalf of her Lord (Allah) and on my behalf, and give her the glad tidings of having a palace made of Qasab (jewels) in Paradise, wherein there will be neither any noise nor any toil (fatigue, trouble, etc.)."

(Al-Bukhari)

The Prophet Muhammad said, addressing the Companions, 'O You Devotee of the Qur'an!, , but read it properly day and night as it ought to be read.

Propagate the Holy Qur'an. Read it in a good voice and think over its contents so that you may succeed. Do not seek a reward for it (in this life) because it has a magnificent reward in the hereafter.'

Personal Comment: The Commentary for the above relates to eight points. They are-

'Devotee of the Qur'an'. Those who read it

'Read it properly day and night as it ought to be read' It should be read every day and every night and with meaning.

'Propagate the Holy Qur'an'. This has two points. The first is that we should know what is in the Qur'an sufficiently to be able to pass on the knowledge of the Qur'an to everyone else; Muslims and Non Muslims alike.

'Read it in a good voice' We have been taught the correct manner of recitation and should read the Qur'an accordingly. If we do, it will be in a good voice.

'Think over its contents so that you may succeed.' A person who ponders over the meanings of the Qur'an and acts accordingly can never go astray.

'Do not seek a reward for it' Reward is from Allah and we should not seek financial payment for reciting, to make recitation a means of living or to seek fame and a following or to show off.

'It has a magnificent reward in the hereafter.' If we truly expect reward from Allah, it will come in the next world, that is a guarantee.

The Prophet (SAW) said, 'Do not be an artist, do not be a proud person and do not be a merchant, unless you are a merchant of goodness because these people will be the ones with the least good actions.'

Personal Comment: The narration does not imply 'business', 'buying and selling', 'commercial transactions' and 'professional sales' as an occupation are evil in themselves.

The message is an increase in capital, wealth, access to greater profit combined with a lack of morality and fear of God can make the trader and merchant a 'slave of money'. He warns us to be careful so that each of us does not fall into the temptation of material luxury at the expense of demonstrating honesty, appreciation and trustworthiness as traders.

"Whoever has filled the entire earth with sin but has not died ascribing partners to me, I [Allah] will meet him with forgiveness of the same magnitude (as his sins)."

When returning after many days from a lengthy journey, and one arrives home when a great
portion of the night has passed, then he should not immediately enter his home. Rather it is
better to go the next morning. (Mishkaat)

When yawning, it is Sunnat to prevent it as far as possible. If the mouth cannot be
kept closed despite making an effort to do so, then place the back of the left hand over the
mouth. While yawning, any sound should not be allowed to emanate as this is forbidden in the
hadith. (Bukhari)
