I just heard something very disturbing!!!!

As salamo alaikome. Inshallah all my brothers and sisters here at tti are fine and in strong iman.

I just heard something today which really disturbed me and this is not the first time I heard this. I was talking to my boss today and he was telling me about the time he took his wives to hajj for the pilgrimage. I was SHOCKED to hear that he said someone there actually CUT his wives clothing to steal money from her which was concealed near her body!!!!!! It was in her garment near her heart and the thief actually CUT into her garment and took the money.

This is not the first time I have heard of people being robbed while on their pilgrimage. Please someone tell me what this world is coming to that you cannot even fulfill your religious obligation without the evil that is in the hearts of man touching you. Im not so naive that I believe there is no evil in this world but come on...........that happened to her INSIDE our beloved Prophet's (SAW) very own Masjid in Mekka!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!!

My boss was telling me its very easy to rob during that time because there are so many people you are body against body walking in there and he said there are people who attend with the specific purpose of robbing people. May Allah have mercy on us all. My dream since becoming Muslim has been to one day make that trip but now I think I may have to reconsider. I know it is an obligation and may Allah forgive me. I am still in shock!!!!

Asalam wailkium.
Big deal, whats so disturbing about that? More than a million people go hajj, there are criminal gangs there with the knowledge that these hajjis have money with them, so hence might try to steal etc. But this is 1) rare occurence 2) occurs every other city in the world. May i also remind you hajj is a pillar of Islam and is compulsory and the rewards of going to hajj outweight any risk or difficultly and God makes it easy for us.

Astagfurullah i've never heard about this happening before in Mecca!! Wow, this is so sad where would be a safe place to put your money? In a hotel?? I don't know at a time like haj time you aren't even supposed to be thinking about worldy stuff like money, and its sad people are presented with these situations. Inshallah i hope those theives come to their senses and realize there's no point in stealing from hajjis.:tti_sister:

Wa'laikum salaam akhi

well, there are SOME people who'll never stop doing haraam things- even in Allah's house- but that shouldn't stop you brother. may allah guide the lost ones insha'allah.
like the brother said, i wouldn't worry about things like that- you're going there for the sake of Allah, so, you should benefit from it.

take care

there are black sheeps everywhere. some dont belive in Allah but are muslims bcoz their society is muslim. so for them these places have no importance.

but dont worry sister, its very rare. Alhamdulillah my family, so many of my friends and ppl i know have been to hajj and umrahs, nothing of this was reported by anyone.

Hajj is obligatory if u have health, wealth and mahram. so if u intend to do hajj, make Dua, do preparations and trust Allah!

it's a very sad story indeed. what makes it so bad is how the thieves have no fear of ALLAH. even the normally non-practicing muslim straightens out his act during hajj and ramadan out of fear of ALLAH SWT. so for someone to be at al masjid al haram and rob someone in front of the kaaba is despicable.

look at it this way,

if there was an event taken place in a nearby city, would people that are up to no good go there?

it's where all the action is at.

so you have some who live in the country, that may be athiest or just don't fear God. Poverty sometimes leads people to dis belief. That is why a few prophets prayed that their nation will not face poverty.

they do try to protect the pilgrims, but the number of people that are there it probably can't be done.

my parents suit cases where mis handled and lost when they arrived last year. They had bought all new clothes, shoes and everything for their trip. They wouldn't let them carry the luggage on the bus that takes them to hotel. They lost almost $1500. The travel agency after arguing with them for many months gave them $500.

it happens, but Allah aware and knows all. And He answers the oppressed.

My parents plan to go back to hajj next few years, in sha Allah.

The advices are given to the hajis before they land to Jeddah that how to live, behave,or problems they might face etc. The management During the hajj is praise worthy when the case is : out of 160 countries nearly 25 lakhs (2.5 million) comes for hajj, mashaAllah! The biggest gathering of muslims. In such a case ill people take advantage of situation. Especially during tawaaf, when people might either knew that they are being cut-off or snatched , the situation is that hajis cannot do anything as they have to move with pace! the hajj committees or hajj/umrah travels give guidance to the hajis in very regard alhamdulillah! One is not to show money unnecessary or take out the bulk or bundle. In that case money likely to be snatched because the snatchers are swift runners and among the public it is nearly impossible to catch them. they advice to keep small amount of money with ourselves and disperse them in various luggage. My parents went in 2002 and they too experienced some things like these.

Advice pertaining me first and than others, May Allah make us haji, that we should remember that doing hajj and other acts of worship is the primary objective and than rest- the shopping , purchasing etc. when bringing over their lot of money, to buy everything they come across than snatchers know that those who came to hajj have their pockets full and buy lot of things from the markets, these things encourage thieves and snatchers indirectly and prompt them to do stealing. If one needs additional money than they should use western union money transfer or other global service, to get money from their country. Just necessary to keep our affairs modest as those snatchers don’t go to the one who has no extra weight lol !

Abstain from lewd speech, from all wicked conduct, and from quarrelling;

:salam2:

The same happened to my mother while Tawaf , AlhamduliAllah she wasn`t injured : those thiefs are very well trained : they come to steal, But whatever shaytan do the most joyful trip in life of muslem is Hajj since it is for Allah swt.

2:197 (Asad) The pilgrimage shall take place in the months appointed for it. And whoever undertakes the pilgrimage in those [months] shall, while on pilgrimage, abstain from lewd speech, from all wicked conduct, and from quarrelling; and whatever good you may do, God is aware of it. And make provision for yourselves - but, verily, the best of all provisions is God-consciousness: remain, then, conscious of Me, O you who are endowed with insight!

Aslamu alaikum!!!!

Subhanallah that's so upsetting. And the thing is, I'm sure all those people who go to perform Hajj make the intention to make perfect hajj and inshallah be accepted by the Almighty as HAJJ MABROOR ( don't know translation) but these actions make a person ill tempered and get frustrated and it is very HARD to keep good intentions when someone just comes by and ruins your day...

I ask Allah swt to guide us all and forgive those who do unjust towarda the HUJAAJ... and may He protect us from situations that mess up our good intentions.

Salam.

Yes this should not surprise you because we as humans do not have means of filtering out people with bad intentions from entering Mecca. Always keep your belongings secure and only take the things you need. When I went to hajj there were many incidents. Alhamdulillah nothing happened to me.

Be smart about it, and depend on Allaah and inshaAllaah everything will be fine.

The shaykh who taught the Al Maghrib Seerah class in Sacramento this spring said a similiar situation happened to him. He was standing near the spot where the hajjis are to stone Shaytan and he said someone threw something much larger than a pebble (he said it was about twice the size of an egg) and it hit him square in the temple. He stumbled and when he came close to passing out, someone came from behind him to "support" him and lead him to a spot where he can sit and have his wound treated. While he had is arms around the shaykh he took every dollar the shaykh had.

However - there is a positive side to the story.

The shakyh said he was sitting in the masjid later, saddened by what happened and unsure of what to do, when a total stranger walked past behind him; when the stranger passed by the shaykh he reached around & dropped a wad of money into the shaykh's shirt pocket (he was out of Ihram by this point) and kept walking. The shaykh was unable to see the stranger's face because he was turned away. He said he recovered about twice the amount he had lost. Alhamdulillah.
