Travelling towards my grave.
assalam 'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
Alhamdhulillah (praise be to Allah) I am happy for you my dear sister. Indeed I appreciate you to keep doing your own research in this very first stage. Truth is truth and it is clear from Falsehood. Falsehood will jump and run, but it can never beat the Truth.
As per answering their questions, just say simply that you are a Muslim who follows Quran and Sunnah. In short, say you are a Sunni. Thats all. If they keep asking to which school of Fiqh you belong to, tell them that you believe in four schools and will inshaAllah (with the will of God) follow Quran and Sunnah. The four schools of Islam are:
1) Madhab As-Shafi'ee (Named after Imam Shafi'ee)
2) Madhab Al-Hanafee (Named after Imam abu Hanifa)
3) Madhab Al-Hanbalee (Named after Imam Ahmed Ibn Hanbal)
4) Madhab Al-Maalikee (Named after Imam Malik)
All of the four Imams are the Imams of Sunnah. They are the ones who had done the greatest job in taking the Deen of Allah (subuhaanahu wata'aala) to us in its Original form, when there had been a major corruption when different sects came in to existance due to the arrogance and ignorance of People. Imams of Islam did not make any sects.
InshaAllah you will learn about these information in time my dear sister. As my respected sister a_muslimah86 said, keep your focus on Major things for now, and inshaAllah you can learn smaller things later.
Brother please forgime me if I am making any offense here. That is purely not my intention. However, why should we tell a new sister in Islam to follow a perticular Fiqhi School? All the four are based on True Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam). So let us not point out one School, as it may also lead to division among us.
Once again, please forgive me it is offensive.

SO be a sunni without any hesitation. I told you earlier to be a Hanafi.
