i have written many thread defending saudi ,,,but to be balanced i should write something tht shows negative side

SAUDI TV

now in the week leading to the blessed hajj..
what do we find on our major channels
not the saudi pwn channels
but MBC..4 channels which are saudi owned and broadcast to every home..
and ninety percent of people iknow watch them

on the english channel is the show" so you think you can dance" men and women dressed and performing provocatively

and on the arabic channel is the new arab idol...plus another show about acting..introduced by a lebanse presenter with two teams of contestants..
and she is a real lebanes glamour girl acting and talking in very seductive ways

so those who said that there is corruption here just look at the tv..
and unfortunately few people can now see the wrong in it

That's sad to be honest! many people don't realize this, but TV can be the shaytans' biggest weapon. many children are brainwashed by television and to hear that those same disgusting shows that are corrupting the minds of many young adults and children in the states, is being watched in Mekka it's just sad. Can we say globalization? I think there will be a time when the majority of houses in the world will play the same radio stations, and watch the same tv shows--which in that case we will have many fitna.

Scary. I guess no matter where we are in the world, there will always be good and bad in everything. We just got to make our choices.

What breaks the heart you see these things in the land where the angel Gibrel came to our prophet salla Allah alaihi wa sallam and were people read Quran in their own language and recite it. But it is matter of hearts , when hearts are not purified nothing can help. May ALLAH purify our hearts with Quran and Sunna.

The dangerous part of this that most don't see is that Muslims in the east are more likely to imitate what they see on tv then those in the west. We grew up here in the west and we know what is real vs what is fake and what is halal vs haram. But those who grew up in protected societies or where the culture is different, when they see something new they want to imitate it. This is why we have such corruption in the Muslim world, in addition to greed and giving into their own nafs, the youths have found a culture (western) that is more appealing to them their own. I read not long ago that at first it was hard to sin in Saudi, like fornicate. But thanks to technology, people are hooking up so easily now via facebook and saudi girls are going nude on webcams seeking attention. First they had to go western countries where they get of the airport in abayahs and niqabs and go to the bathroom and come out in skirts and tank tops, today they just do it on the webcam and hook up on FB. The Youth need more isalmic education rather then censorship. Teach them properly about their deen and they'll do their own censorship.

You have made a good point here. Education is very important! It's better to teach a child or young person why something is haraam rather than just telling them this is haraam because we are Muslims. This is what many Muslim parents forget to do unfortunately. They don't explain properly and in detail why something is prohibited by Allah.

But if we teach the child something and then in his own home he see the tv showing all that is haram in a lovely way , then we are removing all that has been taught from his hearts. This is a problem in our houses . We teach something we don t respect in our daily life, and if someone try to be strict in following islam ,the whole family will stand against.

There should be an agreement between family, media, school....to follow islamic rules in islamic countries otherwise we can't raise our children islamicaly.

so true sister ..beofre there was always strict censorship this is not allowed this iswrong ..without proper education..then when satellite tv and internet came suddenly all these things were available... and young people were so tempted...and yes all the things you mention are happening

the problem in the past people would not even talk about these things ,the problems the sins... but now that is changing there are shiekhs and counsellors talking about such problems openly the only way to tackle it now...ironiclally the same chanel showing provocative dance shows and soap operas...mbc has a great programme tackling modern programmes in an islamic way
