Special Forces of the Israeli Army attacked The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee
Camp at approximately 03:30 this morning. Ahmed Nasser Matahen, a night
guard and technician student at the theatre, woke up by heavy blocks of stone
being hurled at the entrance of the theatre. As he opened the door he found
masked and heavily armed Israeli Special Forces around the theatre.

Ahmed says that the army threw heavy blocks of stone at the theatre, "they told
me to open the door to the theatre. They told me to raise my hands and forced me
to take my pants down. I thought my time had come, that they would kill me. My
brother that was with me was handcuffed."

The location manager of The Freedom Theatre, Adnan Naghnaghiye, was arrested
and taken away to an uknown location together with Bilal Saadi, a member of
the board of the Freedom Theatre. When the general manager of the theatre,
Jacob Gough from the UK, and the co-founder of the threatre, Jonatan Stanczak from
Sweden, arrived to the scene, they were forced to squat next to a family with four
small children surrounded by about 50 heavily armed Israeli soldiers.

Jonatan says: "Whenever we tried to tell them that they are attacking a cultural
venue and arresting members of the theatre, we were told to supt and they
threatened to kick us. I tried to contact the civil administration of the army to
clarify the matter but the person in charge hung up on me."

One of those men lived in the theater and so the soldiers were forced to enter the building. Nothing was broken though it would be no tragedy had it been (since the founder's murder it hasn't produced anything and its members are under threat from HAMAS and Salafists). The 2 men arrested had a hand in the murder of the theater's founder, 3 months ago. Of course that hasn't been mentioned by the self serving news release.

As for the poster equating Israelis with Nazis, your ignorance is stupefying. Nazis injected antifreeze into the veins of infants and gassed people. At the very least you need to study.

Excuse me but I had to respond to this. Just so you know, I am a non-Muslim and have been here for over a year. Your tone of voice in this post is disrespectful on several levels. 1) you said that "it would be no tragedy had it (been broken). I disagree. Uncalled for damage of a person's property such a theater IS a tragedy. 2) While I disagree with most of the principles of Hamas, a branch of Hamas deals with humanitarian aide and THAT is not wrong. that effort needs to be supported. 3) Salafists? Do you mean the people who follow the original teaching of Mohammad and the words that are in the Qur'an? As a non-Muslim I can tell you that those people are good, upstanding, pious people and are NOT the 'extremists' that the world labels terrorists! Any person with an intelligence can learn the difference. Islam may be complicated to understand at times for those who do not follow the religion but given enough time, it can be done if the learning is done with an open mind and a willingness to TRY to understand a different perspective. 4) Brother Just a Guy is a wonderful person who has an even temper and gentleness that is visible through his words. Do not insult him or his intelligence.

Now, let me tell you a few things. I noticed on your profile that you listed your religion as Judism so I can understand your anger towards the Nazi regime. My grandfather was Jewish and escaped Nazi Germany to America. His non-Jewish wife was told by the SS that she had 2 choices, leave her husband or enter the death camps. Because of her family's support of Hitler and monetary power, they gave her 24hrs to decide. She fled to Berlin and escaped, 9 months pregnant with my father, to America. Later, my grandfather volunteered for the Office of War Information <the then CIA> and returned to Germany to do radio propaganda broadcasts and to translate German writing and prisoner papers. He also performed interrogations and when the camps were taken under the control of the Allied Forces, he entered the camps to translate the records. I have photo's that he took that show the piles and piles of dead Jews that he took! Yes, he did find some of our relative on the rolls of the dead. So, you can not tell ME that I don't understand your anger.

Israel IS doing things to innocent people that have nothing to do with the war except hate for another people because they believe something that the Jews in Israel do not. How is that different from what the Nazi's did? It IS NOT! The actions that is being done to Muslims by Israel in the name of religion and hate are the same actions that the Nazi's did to the Jews.

The holy month of Ramadan is upon the people of Islam. If you want people to respect you, then respect them enough to not be the catalyst of anger. Leave them alone during this month and allow them to follow what is so clearly within their hearts.

JenGiove: How can you discern emotion or intent through a written statement? Moreover, why would you find my words "disrespectful" while seeing nothing wrong with labeling all Israelis as "Nazis?" Perhaps you ought to evaluate your own motives before jumping to conclusions about people you do not know.

Now, let me address your salient points...I) "Damaging the theater." The Freedom Theater, meaning the building itself, was built on public property without permits and in most nations that would result in full demolition. More to the point, especially since the murder this past spring it has served as a focal point for violence in Jenin Camp, endangering those living around it who apparently do not share in the founder's Communist outlook. An illegal structure endangering innocent camp residents , that doesn't produce an iota of work, is a benefit to noone.

II) "HAMAS' humanitarian efforts should be supported.": There are no separate funding mechanisms. When one donates money to HAMAS' it goes to its Dept. of Zakat. From there it is distributed as HAMAS sees fit. Ergo, you may intend for your support to feed widows but HAMAS decides where the money will go, and most goes to support its genocidal programme against Jews (mind you, not just Israeli Jews and/or Zionists).

III) "What does Salfist mean?": I use it as. It is used by English speaking people, to denote Islamic Fundamentalists who seek to re-implement al Khalifa and who, in this instance, adviocate the use of terrorism in that Pursuit. Since you are concerned with semantics I will add that I am using the UN's Definition by Academic Consensus which defines "terrorism" as the deliberate use of violence against non-combatants in the pursuit of ideological objectives. In plain speak, they believe in employing so called Suicide Bombers against pizza cafes and mass transit. If you want to be absolutely specific, you can research the nearly 2 dozen groups in Gaxa that tried to launch a coup against HAMAS, in Gaza, in the Summer of 2010.

Thank you for the tip about learning about Islam but Arabic is my first language, rest assured I knoe more about Islam than most Muslims.

IV) "Don't insult Brother Guy.": A non-Muslim calling another non-Muslim "Brother"? Perhaps you ought to study Islam a bit more because you are misusing the term "Brother," it denotes a "Brother" in faith anf belief in the context of Islam. However, the actual issue is you accusing me of insulting a person who just collectively labeled 8 million Israelis as "Nazis." Hubris is never pretty.

V) "Israelis oppress non-Jews.": Are you aware that a fully 20% of Israeli citizens are Muslim? Israel is not a theocracy. It is a secular, liberally democratic nation that not only offers full and equal rights to non-Jewish citizens, it offers those non-Jews EXTRA rights. Israel has offered the PA 100% of Gaza and land equal to 100% of the so called "West Bank." This offer has been on the table for nearly a decade but the PA refuses to form a state. You are at best, quite ill informed.

In Septempber of 2005 Israel withdrew from 100% of Gaza and 15 % of the "West Bank" and dragged its citizens out by the hair to do it. What happened? The PA used that to form a state? All that happened was that Gaza was co-opted by HAMAS in its bloody 2007 coup and the terrorism against Israelis increased 9 fold. Forgive me if I don't pay too much attention to your blanket condemnation of Israel and its people.

The very fact that you imagine Israel to be acting in the name of religion plainly shows that you are completely ignorant about the country. Lest you once again misread intent and emotion, the word "ignorant" is NOT an insult. It simply means you lack even basic knowledge on the subject. Judaism is a religion, Zionism is a political ideology based on liberal and Socialist thought. Likewise, there is a difference between religion and peoplehood. You will obviously be suprised but the IDF has Muslim soldiers.


A last thought for you: As someone who says they had a Jewish grandfather victimised by the Holocaust, least of all you should be ashamed for defending that poster's comparison. Irony personified.
