Stupid question..

Ok, I know that I've been around for longer than some like to admit but I have a really stupid, basic, question and I hope you can help me understand with hadith and sunnah proofs.

When mentioning the names of the prophets, the phrase "peace and blessings of Allah upon him/them" is used but when mention of the wives of the prophets of companions are used, the phrase changes to "May Allah be pleased with her/them". Why is it so different? why is one a statement while the other is a dua?...

Dear sister,

That has to be with the degree or rank of highness they have to Allah. Prophets are higher in rank as they are the leaders of believers. As for wifes of Prophet s.a.w.s they and sahabee (muslims of the time of prophet s.a.w.s that established Islam with their sacrifices) they are in same degree. Everuy other muslim after death is associated with rahimullah (May Allah have mercy on him). Hope this helps, and by way is not stupid question.

It is actually "May Allaah's peace and blessings be upon him" so both are actually adeya (supplications). wallaahu a'lam (and Allaah knows best)

or some just say "peace and blessings BE upon him"

Of course the best way to say it is in Arabic :saw2: read as sallal'laahu alayhi wa sallaam meaning May Allaah send blessings and peace upon him.

So again it is not a statement but actually a du'a. It is wrong to say it in a statement as this is not the sunnah. wallaahu a'lam.

Also, I would like to remind everyone and myself first to refrain from answering without evidence or just assuming because it sounds appropriate for an answer. I know we all mean well and that we want to help each other. May Allaah reward everyone with good.

True sister, and I will keep in mind for next time. What I wrote are from the islamic course I have attended back home, and the authentic explanation need be digged. Thank you for the proper advice.

It is stated in Quran

*!*!*!*!*!Al-Ahzab [33:56] *!*!*!*!*!*! *!*!
إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

Inna Allaha wamalaikatahu yusalloona AAala alnnabiyyi ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo AAalayhi wasallimoo tasleeman

33:56 Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.

So we do as Allah sobhanahu wa taala told us to do.

وَالسَّابِقُونَ الأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالأَنصَارِ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَانٍ رَّضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُواْ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ (9:100)
Basit - Hussari - Minshawi -
Waalssabiqoona alawwaloona mina almuhajireena waalansari waallatheena ittabaAAoohum biihsanin radiya Allahu AAanhum waradoo AAanhu waaAAadda lahum jannatin tajree tahtaha alanharu khalideena feeha abadan thalika alfawzu alAAatheemu


9:100 (Asad) And as for the first and foremost of those who have forsaken the domain of evil and of those who have sheltered and succoured the Faith, as well as those who follow them in [the way of] righteousness - God is well-pleased with them, and well--pleased are they with Him. And for them has He readied gardens through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time: this is the triumph supreme! - *!*!


In verse 9:100 it is stated that Allah is pleased with them.

And Allah knows best.

Lets try my simple approach. You know there was a book written a while back. Everything you ever need to know was taught to you in kindergarten. I know this to be true.

OK..so we have the Light and Mercy of Allah sent down to us. The us is an inclusive us. He is the salvation of all of mankind. The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is a gift from Allah to everybody through the ages.

He is our chief. He is our teacher. He is our brother. That is enough to make me weep. We are commanded to love him more than ourselves.

Out of respect for him and to him and out of the Fear and Love of Allah we include the salutation.

It's a big wow. Wow. You can take all of humanity and this is the shinning star. This is the one who was invited to heaven. He was given the gift of prayer in heaven. ( goose-bumps) and he remained true. He gave us the gift without hesitation. He did not save it for himself. He did not share it with a select few. He did right.

Out of pure reverence we do the right thing that Allah has commanded us to do.

And we believe that Allah in His Mercy and out of His Endless Bounties gives us all we ask for. That is dua.

We are not excluded. We ask for blessings for our leader without hesitation. And the thing that makes this so wild is when we are doing this..the angels of Allah are recording our good deeds. It's a win-win for everyone.

As you ask us this question you have given us the blessings of being able to respond to you. In doing so we are remembering Allah. So I ask that Allah reward you for making us do right.

NIce answer. And after all that, the Prophet will be with us during the judgement day on three occasions. He will intercede for us when our deeds are judged. He will encourage us when we walk upon the bridge across the hell. And he will be waiting for his ummah at the doors of Jannah. Though he doesn't know us personally, he says he will recognize the people of his ummah from their noor (the light). There cannot be any man with so much compassion and love for his people. So, we all should make dua for him.
