Vacation haram?

Salam brothers and sisters!

Is it haram spending money on your family to do "something" (trip, vacation, etc)

Is it wrong to think doing things as a family outside the house is important?
What is the common opinion concerning this matter?

Thanks for any answer

I've been told

- it's haram spending money on unnecessary things
- it's simply is not necessary
- it is best for a woman to stay close to home and take care of the home, and the children are perfectly happy playing outside the door.

I think it all goes back to your intention
If your intention to go on a vacation is to strenghten your family bonds and become closer with your partner and children then that is something Allah t'ala loves and encourages. Sometimes we all need a break from the routine of life and what better than spending time with our beloved ones. Spending money on your family is charity. You can also try doing things that are islamic. If you want to travel to another country why not use the money to do umrah or go to Islamic countries. Nowadays there are amazing trips organized specially for Muslims where you can visit Islamic sites and increase your knowledge. That way the money you will be spending will be towards increasing your knowledge and the knowledge of your family and you can earn the reward inshAllah.

My respect to others if they way of think is different, but of my mind it is not needed to ask about everything at first like "is this and this haram?". Let´s at first think what good making something might gives to us.

Sorry but I don´t see islam as collection of haram- things but source of joy and happiness with halal- things.

Your question is very vague. What is the 'something' that the family wishes to do on vacation ? Would they be spending a huge amount of money and travelling far away distances just for sightseeing ?

Is this a place known as a place where disobedience of Allah is widespread ? Would women be traveling with or without male mahram guardians ?

As for your second question, families can relax, have fun and spend time together outdoors as long as it doesn't entail doing something that displeases Allah ta'ala. And Allah knows best.

But while thinking what good we can achieve by doing certain things, we should first consider if it is lawful for us muslims to actually be involved in it. Or else we would be in danger of actually displeasing Allah taala by doing a certain act.

As muslims, we should try to acquire knowledge of lawful and prohibited and seek it from people of knowledge ie Ulema in cases where we don't have knowledge regarding it. Being mindful of the legislation of Allah taala is a sign that the muslim has taqwa of Allah taala.

Assalaam walaikum,

Brother,

I believe it is understood that we would let us say not go to Las Vegas, Sin City.

Now Brother, We have to become understanding about this woman thing. Do not place blame on a woman when there is no man around. If the men would obey the laws of Allah and not fear the laws of man things would be a little different.

Just a Guy

Reinventing Myself
I look at it this way:

Allah created me, and people tell me I am a funny guy. Therefore, Allah must have a sense of humor, which means that Allah likes us to have fun and enjoy life (as long as what we are doing is not haraam). Allh is the Most Merciful, and I don't think He would be so cruel as to deny His creations any sense of enjoyment.

Travel, vacation, see the world, enjoy Allah's creation.
