Is it possible for a women of age 80 years to go to hajj or umrah in a group of people or in a group of women if there is no mahram willing to go with her or the mehrum donnt have finance ?.

I'm not what you believe
:wasalam:
sister, the grandmother of my husband went to Hajj on 2007.her husband died in 1985,but she went by bus with a group of other sisters, cause she had none else who could go with her.so I don't think that it's wrong for this 80 years aged woman to go,if she has none who can be with her...but use the intelligence:which muhram man could come close to a respectable woman who goes to Hajj?!
but please correct me if I'm wrong

I always thought there was no issue with going on hajj as a woman, regardless of age. It is just Saudi laws that can make it difficult. I believe the age is something like 45 or 50 for Saudis to allow a woman to go without a male relative. Which ever age, it is much earlier than 80.

Assalaamu alaykum,

InshaAllaah the ruling below is helpful.

4 – It is not permissible for a woman to travel for Hajj or for any other purpose without a mahram, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No woman should travel without a mahram.” Agreed upon.

The mahram is the husband or any man whom a woman is forever forbidden to marry because of blood ties or radaa’ah (ties that result from breastfeeding) or ties through marriage. This is one of the conditions of Hajj being obligatory for women. If a woman does not have a mahram to travel with her, then she does not have to do Hajj.

further in detail, http://www.islamqa.com/en/ref/36619/conditions for women to hajj

And Allaah knows the best.

i have read that if a woman dont have a mahram or he is not financially good, then hajj is not obligatory on her.

Perhaps you should seek to know & understand the Islamic view, before you blame it on the 'Saudis', our favorite scapegoat.

Here in Turkey there is an exception for such issues.. If the ladies want to go alone without any mahram, they need to prepare some papers (if they are under 45) ..above 45 not need any papers they can apply themselves and then here the governments shows them as if they are following shafee madhap and says it is accepted.. and there is no problem between the governments of Turkey and Saudi.

This is how the rules are followed here.. may be something similiar you can find there.

actually, according to the link posted, there is still a contradiction between Islamic law and Saudi law. That is, women above the arbitrary age of 45 having less restrictions placed upon them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to Imam Ash-Shafi'ee (rahimahullaah) a women can go hajj with a group of women. It is said that there should be a man accompanying them though. This is what a shaykh explained and he also said the other opinions.
