Egypt to face its first Tunisian-inspired protests

Asaalaam walaikum,

As I posted earlier Israel sent its "aid" and managed to bomb a tunnel in Gaza; I will respectfully ignore the passionate remarks you posted.

I am not saying anything about the peoples of the KSA; I am making a factual statement about the governing body.

Please stop your close minded propaganda of terming everyone a 'zionist'/'zionist supporter' . You are not the sole person who has sympathy for the Palestinian cause nor do you have the right to degrade a country by calling them a 'zionist friend' at will.

Do you even know that the gulf countries fought a war against the Israel and have been actively supporting the Palestinian struggle and have supported the oppressed people of Palestine financially ?

Egypt is a sovereign state and no one has the right to meddle with their internal politics. Neighboring countries can at maximum offer advice and offer to negotiate, but they can not send reinforcements in to another sovereign state.

The bigotry and blind hate on TTI at times is just awful.

Saudi Arabia strongly criticized Egyptian protesters and voiced support for beleaguered Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday, appearing to underscore growing concern across the Arab world over possible spill-over from popular protests that have ousted Tunisia's long-time strongman and now threaten Mr. Mubarak's grip on power.

In a statement carried by Saudi's state news agency, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud said protests rocking Egypt were instigated by "infiltrators," who "in the name of freedom of expression, have infiltrated into the brotherly people of Egypt, to destabilize its security."
The king said protesters had been "exploited to spew out their hatred in destruction . . . inciting a malicious sedition,'' according to the statement, posted on the English website of the Saudi Press Agency.

Assalaam walaikum,

Sister, Egypt has given us hope. Our dua are with you.

Jazaka Allah khairan.

I am so proud to be in this country and I am so proud that finally Egyptian did what they should have done 30 years a go.

This is just the beginning of Middle east revolution. If Egypt can do,any country can do as well in sha Allah.

We just need to be UNITED.
This is the first time I see Christians and Muslims work together, people are generous and giving food and drinks for free, cleaning the street, watch the neighborhood together.

The hikmah behind this whole thing is UNITY of EGYPTIANS.

Hi sis Maha!

It saddens me that the people of Egypt are turning against each other. I have been glued to Aljazeera making dua that our Egyptian brothers and sisters succeed. The world will side with people who are united. United we stand, divided we fall! I pray that they unite and stand together even if the reason that they unite be the wrong chioce. What matters is their Unity. I'm tierd of seeing corrupted muslim countries.

There is no reason for killing or harming your brother for some stupid reason!

May you be safe dear sister!

The pro-mubarak protesters were paid and some are police with plain cloths. We (anti-mubarak) are not fighting and killing each other but the pro-mubarak started first and began to do havoc on wednesday.

It was all perfect on tuesday-1 million man riot.
We are tired as well with our corrupted leader and that is the reason we need to win this battle for the sake of our future generation.

:salam2:

Of my mind he is. You have right to your opinions about KSA as like I too have them. This thread might be wrong place for this matter and I prefer to open new thread if it is needed to discuss about matter. In my post before I just used Tunisian ex-president as example of destiny of ex-dictators - that they escape and survive without punishments they might deserve after torturing they own people.

Please lets keep this thread to Egypt only.

I do not have issues with anyone criticizing KSA for issuing a message in support of Mr Mubarak. He is without doubt a tyrant who has been instrumental in corruption in Egypt and causing distress to people of Egypt by persecuting some citizens. I myself do not agree with anyone supporting him or issuing a statement of support on his behalf and that includes KSA.

However, Aapa or anyone here has no right to defame a muslim country or it's people by calling them a friend of the 'zionist'. (she has done it before as well and hurt people's sentiments) It is very hurtful for people who have contributed so diligently and sincerely to the cause of Palestinians and the govt of KSA and it's people have certainly among the top contributors in aiding the Palestinian people financially. Their official position from their ministers is also critical of the govt of Israel in their inhumane treatment of Palestinian people.

So this childish propaganda against KSA only exposes the close mindedness and bigoted views that translate in to taking parting shots at a country at every opportunity. It needs to stop.

As for the protests, as I previously asked but didn't get many responses on this thread. I would consult with the scholars before supporting or being against open protest on the streets. And I haven't seen any posts here related to it bar one link/post.

Regardless, I pray for the safety of the people of Egypt. May Allah azz zawajal guide us all and keep us firm on His deen. Ameen

Dear brother,Calling somebody childish who might be as old as your mother is really infuriating to a lot of us.

I shall respectfully ask you not to do that to avoid turning this thread into another a battlefield, please don't.

I am asking this of you with a lot of restraint.

Know that you are here discussing among your brothers and sisters who's last wish is to harm you or make you feel discomfort in any way,but who might feel very anxious ,hopeful and passionate on what is happening in Egypt.

For some even personally attached to this because of It's symbolics. This situation here has far bigger significance than Egypt itself.

We have pictures of Iraq,Afghanistan,Palestine,Abu Ghraib,Guantanamo and all the other incidents that resulted from the lack of dignity and respect this kind of political systems gave to their citizens.

It is time to reclaim the fact that we Muslims are human beings and that no power in this world has the right to dehumanize us for any purpose as cynical as it might be.

If you do not agree with what one might say close and eye, move on and express yourself as you wish within the limits of the thread's subject.

May Allah Azza wa Jall give all of us Sabr and ameen to your Duaa for the Egyptian brothers and sisters.

PS.Me too I didn't hear anything coming from scholars except the one from whom you have rejected the view point .

Which said that people had legitimate claims but that they should avoid harming public institutions and belongings as they are after all theirs and remain peaceful.

He also addressed Mubarak directly advising him to wisely step down and leave the country before the people catch him. That as far as I can remember.

Assalaam walaikum,

I tried to search for the scholars viewpoints. This is all I could find:

DOHA: Noted Islamic scholar and the head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Dr Yusuf Al Qaradawi has hailed the uprising in Egypt and said the 150 protestors killed by the police were martyrs. In a statement issued on behalf of the IUMS, he called on all Egyptian political parties, intellectuals, elites, trade unions, and Al Azhar scholars to unify on a single front to achieve people’s aspirations. Al Qaradawi urged President Mubarak to hand over power to the people to freely elect their new president. “The loyal army officers should protect the people and the uprising till an impartial election be held based on the new constitution,” he said. “Egypt under President Mubarak had given up its historic role in the Arab-Israeli conflict and became a mediator instead of a partner in the struggle. The education, health, economy and military sectors shrank and 40 percent of the Egyptian people came under the poverty line,” he said. Al Qaradawi criticised the Egyptian regime for not responding to the demands of the poor people, plundering the national wealth and ruling the country under curfew. “The regime has denied political and religious freedom since decades and forfeited the recent elections of the Advisory Council and People Assembly,” he said. The statement hailed the sacrifices made by the Egyptians to achieve freedom, dignity and hold impartial elections, calling to take action against security forces personnel who killed innocent people and stole national property.

Qaradawi, a virulent anti-Semite is often referred to here as the most important leader of the global Muslim Brotherhood, an acknowledgement of his role as the de facto spiritual leader of the movement. In 2004, Qaradawi turned down the offer to lead the Egyptian Brotherhood after the death of the Supreme Guide. Based in Qatar, Sheikh Qaradawi has reportedly amassed substantial wealth through his role as Shari’ah adviser to many important Islamic banks and funds. He is also considered to be the “spiritual guide” for Hamas and his fatwas in support of suicide bombings against Israeli citizens were instrumental in the development of the phenomenon. A recent post has discussed a video compilation of Qaradawi’s extremist statements.

Qaradawi recently reiterated his support for suicide bombing in Israel and expressed his desire to die as a martyr “at the hands of a non-Muslim.”

Assalaam walaikum,

Sister we are all making dua. Evil must show her face before reason can calm the storms.

PS: I have added another link to balance the previous response I pasted:
Translated by Dr. Ali Shehata

Today, on Saturday 1/29/11, Sheikh Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, calling in to al-Jazeera television, called upon the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to step down from his leadership in due consideration that there is no solution to the present crisis in Egypt except for him to leave as the Egyptian people have called upon him to do through their peaceful protests.

Qaradawi, the President of the Global Association of Muslim Scholars and one of the foremost callers of Sunni Islam in the world today, also said, “I advise President Mubarak to leave Egypt as there is no other solution to the current problem except for him to leave.” And he added by saying to him, “Leave O’ Mubarak, have mercy on these people and leave before the ruin of Egypt grows worse.” He also said, “You should no longer stay Mubarak. I advise you to learn from the experience of the ousted Tunisian president Bin Ali. I would prefer that a civil court tries you rather than to be tried by the masses.” He then emphasized to the Egyptian leader, “I urge you to leave, you have presided for 30 years already,” clarifying that he speaks on behalf of “the scholars of Egypt and the rest of the world.”

He then relayed some words to the Egyptian people saying, “Continue in your protests” but cautioned that transgression against state institutions (burning them, looting them, etc.) was prohibited by Islam. And he emphasized the necessity that the protest effort continues in a civil and peaceful manner. He also contended that the Egyptian political system was “blind and could not see, deaf and could not hear, stupid and could not understand” evidenced by the fact the the Egyptian President “came out to us in the night to deliver a speech (regarding the appointment of a vice-president) as if he was living in another world than the rest of us.”

Anti-Mubarak crowds have changed their chant, now saying: We want the murderer Mubarak to be hanged or tried.

Pro-Mubarak crowds are planning to go back to Tahrir square in larger numbers today, one of our web producers reports from Cairo.

I think the Military is in dilemma who to help they didn't do anything when Molotov's passed by them.

I think Mubarak wants to send a message saying if I leave I'll make you suffer

Egyptian army disperses Mubarak supporters from bridge

The Egyptian army intervened this morning in a belated attempt to end the violence which flared overnight in central Cairo as supporters of President Hosni Mubarak attacked anti-government protesters.

A small group of soldiers cleared around 1,000 pro-government loyalists from a flyover in Tahrir Square, where they had been throwing stones at anti-government protestors below.

It was not immediately clear if the steps were part of a wider decision for the army to begin protecting the demonstrations.

The intervention came as a retired Egyptian army general told the BBC that the military was losing patience with the embattled Mubarak, and would open fire at regime loyalists if there were fresh attacks on the protesters.

Two Al Jazeera reporters have just been attacked on their way from airport to central Cairo - more updates soon.

Shahira Amin resigned from Nile TV because of their coverage of the protests - she spoke live to Al Jazeera. She was the deputy head of the station.

Some fifty people are wounded in clashes near Tahrir square, our correspondent reports.

According to an eye witness in Abdelmonaem Ryad square next to Tharir square Mubarak loyalists are preparing firebombs to attack protesters in the area. one of our correspondents saw one person carrying a whole box of them and making his way towards that area. He was apprehended by people and delivered to the army.

We shall wait and see what is going to happen tomorrow(after Jumaah/Friday Prayer) in sha Allah.
