Well at the end of the day it really depends on how you bring up your kids as well. I have been able to distinguish between the pious father's child, and the NOT VERY pious father's child, and sometimes I wish to get married of right there and then and have a child like that of the pious father lol or atleast adopt that child for a couple of days Ma shaAllah the actually pious fathers bring their children up with beautiful ahlaq, and its amazing to see the young ones so well mannered, and its so cute, when they hardly speak anything except for good.

On a serious note about mahr, as the saying goes, the lower the mahr, the more the barakah. Nowadays its a disease within the women of our ummah, who demand a lot of mahr, thinking that the amount of mahr reflects their status, when infact it does not. The lower the mahr, the more your humbleness is reflected. The the lesser the mahr, the more Allah T'ala is pleased with your marriage, in shaAllah. It can be as less as a single date, or as high as a mountain of Gold. But marrying someone of for very little mahr shows that your marrying them for the sake of their piety and nothing else.
