As salamo alaikome

Inshallah my brothers and sisters here at TTI are in good health and strong Iman!

Sorry for the thread title but I am SO mad right now!!!!! I am angry with myself that I have read Quran going on 10 FULL TIMES all the way from cover to cover and I am STILL not able to remember where anything is in it!!!!!!

What is WRONG with me????? I must be a total TARD!!!! I mean who reads Quran 10 times and cant remember where to find something in it????

Today I had the perfect opportunity to use the verse regarding Allahs signs being everywhere if you have a mind which can reason.......I mean I KNOW this verse is somewhere in Quran yet my mind is a blank as to which Surah or which verse it is so that I could copy and use it!!!!

HOW can I EVER perform dawah if I am not even able to remember such important things as this????? I KNOW the verses well but I dont know them exactly by heart enough to quote without reading them word for word! I know its important not to misquote Quran in any way or to translate in case our own opinion should be included so I really NEED to remember where the verses are when I need them!!!!!

Really this is stupid shaitan at his finest hour...........Im SO mad at myself!!!!

Please pray for me that Allah can improve my memory!!! Sorry for the rant but really I am so mad right now! I missed a PERFECT opportunity to perform dawah just because I cant remember anything! UGHHHHHHHH

Maybe you should put sticky notes on the verses you need for your da'wah. Or you can google search the words you remember, and you may come up with results of the verse. May Allah improve your memory and make you a professional in da'wah. Ameen.

The google idea was a great one and I will try it! Not sure why I didnt think of that one myself seeing as how I google EVERYTHING!!!!

Thank you for your response and all of your suggestions! May Allah reward you! Ameen!

My cousin once went to sleep while the Quran was on and she memorized it the next day. It also helps to listen to some verses at the end of the day (or it's just me). Don't worry, you can change the sticky notes once it's full of the notes. You can also memorize the page number instead.

Assalaam walaikum,

Do not get frustrated. This is not a race to get a gold star. Each time you read the Quran you learn something new and different. You gain knowledge.

There is nothing alternation to making Du'a. Make Du'a to Allah, that He increase your memory, sharpens and make it easy for you to remember the Quran.

Islam is a way of life
Yes you've read it cover to cover, but have you made notes on it? Studied it?

You can read an entire textbook and fail a test on it. Make notes on each Surah, find a study guide to the Qur'an, start memorizing surahs.

Also, dont say things like "I must be a total tard" That is incredibly hurtful to people who DO have a mental handicap.

I apologise to anyone who might have been offended by my use of the word "tard" in my original post. It never entered my mind that it might offend someone because obviously I would never use that term in referrence to a person who has an actual mental handicap! I meant it only in jest as most people who are fluent in English would know. If it was meant seriously I would have used the entire word and not a portion of the word. Also I was using it in referrence to myself and not using it to hurt another person so in my opinion if someone was offended by it they must be incredibly sensitive. Still I apologise for using it and I will be more careful in the future. Inshallah

I read once that studying in short amounts of time, particularly first thing in the morning or right before bed, will help you remember. I have a terrible memory, but maybe it'll help? If you overload yourself with a lot at one time, you won't remember anything. Focus on small bits. You can do it!

My dear sister dont despair Allah is just testing your patience. my own advice to you would be that you memorise the verses of the Qur'an one step at a time.
remember one thing your memorising the Qur'an for the sake of Allah, and with out a doubt He will help you, so please dont give up, you have to keep going inshAllah.

Shaytaan will try his very best to hinder you from memorising the Words of your Rabb, but you must not fall in to his trap, at the moment shaytaan is making you feel low, so that you give up.

But inshAllah your NOT going to give up because your a tough cookie :-D and deep down you know that if you dont struggle, you wont succeed, and memorising the Qur'an is your ultimate challenge from Allah.

Remember Allah says in the Qur'an after every hardship comes ease.

I hope you find my words comforting sister Bi'ithniAllah

Jazakallah khairan sis you are so sweet and your words have comforted me so much!

I must say shaitan has been trying his best all day today for some reason!!!! He has done just about everything imaginable to get me upset or angry! I have turned to Allah instead of letting shaitan win though and I think that really irritated him! I have been focusing on reading Quran all day and I have been writing down certain verses that have stood out for me! I will be taking alot of the advice given to me by members here in my thread so Jazakallah khairan to all who gave their advice and inshallah Allah will reward you for it.

I know its shaitan trying to keep me from memorizing our Lords words in Quran but youre right dear sis.....I am a tough cookie and I have strong Iman so shaitan will NOT win!!!! Someone recently sent my husband an email which he shared with me and whenever I get angry or frustrated about something I quote the email which said "whenever we have a big problem instead of saying 'Oh Allah I have a big problem' we should say 'Oh big problem I have a GREAT Allah' and you will feel better"!!!! Whenever I get that feeling that shaitan is working on me I say this to myself and it never fails to bring a huge smile to my lips which of course chases all the bad feelings away and shaitan is sent packing!!!! I use this often and it really helps me.
