Cowboy?

I always thought it was meant to be Prince Charming in shining armour on a white horse.

yeah whatever. but instead of buying those useless stories they should practice making a nice samwich in under 2 mins.
besides there is nothing wrong with being a little roughed up.

Too young to marry? You sure? I got married a couple months after turning 20. What's with the delays? People found it strange when I got married, but within no time, friends of mine got married too, at the same age. And it wasn't long after that I met other brothers who got married 17, 18 etc. Alhamdulillaah, it seems yet another sunnah is reviving... in the West!

Still single because Allah hasn't sent the right one to me yet. Many of the single sisters in my area are entangled in the dunya and want a hot handsome stud they can go on dates with before marrying, or they're entangled by their culture (as one sister above wrote, "my parents turned down lots of proposals"). I am not marrying the parents. I believe they should have an opinion but I do NOT agree the parents should have 100% say in the matter. Here in Sacramento - indeed, in the US as a whole - most of the revert sisters want someone close to their age whereas the born Muslimahs are restricted by their parents who almost without exception want a son in law that's of the same culture. I've tried the online thing but so far it seems I'm absolutely irresistable to women who want a green card...!

br danyalsac, it was me who wrote that and yes i have the final say and it is me who choses who i marry, but first in islam, the man who wants to get to know the girl has to get permission from the girls guardian i.e most cases the father before it can go any further this is not being 'entangled in culture' as you said, this is part of islam. actually i have little to no 'cultural practice', i know islam and thats it.

i understand youre situation about girls being entangled in dunya, but not all are like that. ofcourse you are not marrying the parents, but parents being parents want the 'ideal man' and tend to be fussy, i dont know what they expect, a man in shining armour, prince charming :(

in islam, the Prophet peace be upon him said, if a man comes for youre daughter in marriage with good character and good faith, then marry him to her (ofcourse with the girls agreement). no mention of 'is he the same culture' its sad because most parents have forgotten that.

i only wish for someone with good faith and manners, nothing more :(

and yes, parents can only advise and have an opinion with regards to marriage, there is no force in islam

Assalamualaikum,

I'm biologically 23 years old but Islamically so young and with so much still to learn. Insha'Allah the right woman shall be revealed to me one day once I am a better Muslim. Alhamdulillah I am happy with studying medicine and Islam without worrying about something like this :D

Asalaamu alaikum sister -

Yes I knew it was you, however I didn't include it as a 'quote' because I didn't want to look like I was pointing directly at you, and also because that statement is a very good indication of what some of us have to go through. I hope I didn't offend you - that was not my intent!

I also wish for someone of good faith & manners and the ability to carry on a conversation!
