As-salaamu `alaykum warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh
What was done was needed. I find it strange that a simple issue required so many reminders, warnings and closed threads. Abu Baseer once closed four in a row, due to the combination of constantly using Urdu and undesirable, causal mingling between genders. Mabsoot closed one before that, reiterating the same points (Urdu and mingling) writing in bold in the last post to use English. Alhamdulillaah, at least it was clear as to why I closed the thread in question, no explanation was needed.
I don't think I'm alone in finding this issue puzzling. It was a simple request from the mods given time after time, which was completely ignored. What's worse is that those who caused threads to be closed, were more than aware of this, yet they persisted to continue. I can recall seeing in at least two threads, that straight after I would remind brothers and sisters not to use Urdu, the very next replies were in Urdu?! The issue is not a joke, when we ask of something pertaining the site, it is not a joke, it is advise or a reminder; we don't delete posts for fun, or say stuff for the sake of it. Don't take me wrong, we all know change takes time and don't see a problem in reminding a lot, but this was such a simple issue.
After issuing my last reminder, it took less than 24 hours (bare in mind I posted at hours where anyone not living in the Americas were probably asleep) before four posts cropped up in Urdu! The initial creator of the thread is an American revert who does not understand Urdu. What sense does it make to hijack someone's thread by conversing in a language which the initial poster doesn't understand?
The reasons as to why using Urdu in an English language forum is such a problem are obvious and have already been mentioned. We do hope to host Urdu forums in the future. But please bare in mind, we are going through changes and so Mabsoot is especially busy. We rather prioritise what is important and give da`wah than having to nag people with a simple instruction.
