want - ma-hu (hu as in who)
eat - ma-kan (kan as in can't)
drink - mi-num (mi is me)
this - i-ni ( as in ee nee)
buy - be-li (be as in "ver" in believer)(li as in lee)
what - a-pa (pa as in papa)

Its Malay... spoken both in Singapore and Malaysia,,, and slightly different from Indonesian.Malay can be romanised(latin alphabet) or arabic alphabet.
Only thinل we have more alphabets than the arabic and we dont used the diacritical(َ ِ ُ ً ٍ ٌ ) We call this arabic writing as jawi ( جاوي. Anyway i think the present generation dont give much thought to jawi they rather read in romanised eh

eg -- house = rumah = رومه
eat = makan = ماكن

Nice teaching brother and sister. Eventhought there are differences in voucabulary with indonesian langguage but I can understand clearly.

One term also have big different "jawi" in Indonesian, it means special langguage for java people.

Thx u. At least I learned something about Malay lang.Which language family does it belong?It seems 2 be very different.
