You have to take the expression as a whole though, not translating each word literally cause that wouldn't make sense here.

there was a house on fire in my area, two streets away just as i was driving past and i could see it from my garden, ive never seen a house on fire in real life. can you imagine losind your whole house like that, all your possessions, all youre most treasured goods and have nothing.... gosh it really made me think. anyway i gotta go pray asr and make dua..dont forget the duas today.
