Used to be active here!
let see if the individuals loyal to the king come out with some explanation for this too. may Allah have mercy on some bold sheikhs from the kingdom itself who have spoken against this. may Allah protect them.

Wha? Seriously?

I didn't read the rest of the rubbish but this caught my eye:
Recently, King Abdullah has pushed for some limited reforms in the face of opposition from the country's ultraconservative clerics. Women have been promised the ability to run and vote in municipal elections in 2015, and a new university near Jiddah allows men and women to study together in contrast to the strict general separation of the sexes across the kingdom.

What in the world is wrong with them

Why are you surprised for? If Saudi law forbid non-Saudi Muslims to marry Saudi Muslimahs then what would stop them from opening a mixed university? They help kuffar against Muslims and Saudi law (NOT shari`a) doesnt have a rules about executing the one who curses the Prophet :saw: . We should stop with believing that KSA is SO perfect when they are not. They have iman and kufr in their laws.

Women in sports ain't a problem. Women uncovered with loads of men watching them is. Not to mention, some sports like judo , isn't really the kind, that is acceptable to a Muslim woman due to her Haya. They get all up side down and fall in weird ways in front of men. Oh no! The thought of it sickens me.

I am glad i am not the only one thinking in this way dear sister...is just weird since the hijab is more then a scarf on the head...
What are the things that really empowers a muslimah ?... to show i can do the same things a man can do is not really a goal. We are different and islam teaches us this way.
Allah knows better.

Pehaps I am biased due to my Western Upbringing but I don't see doing Judo as being bad. It teaches you self defence, makes your body in shape and healthy and is good for you. The insults this girl and her family are getting from people in the Kingdom is over the top. She did not have to accept the inviation nor did her father have to let her go, they both chose to.

Wasalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraakaatuh,

Jazaakillaahu khayraa sister.I was kinda worried I'd be told off for this. Many don't really care these days, they talk about that rubbish of "Women projection" and "Women Liberation". All I see them doing is Woman=Men and that "everything" a man did, a woman should do. Kinda crazy. I don't see men doing the same thing and saying they'll now give birth to kids just to equate the men-women equation.

No one would ever insult a girl doing Judo as long as she doesn't puts her "skills/talents" [as they call it] on display where men can see it. Get an all girl gathering and I'll be the one to challenge you in it;). Just. . .go easy on me. I like my bones intact.

Ukht, what she did doesn't suit a Muslim Lady. It's against her honor. They chose to, but what choice do they have when they say they are "Muslims-people who surrender/submit to Islam"? I don't want to judge, but they have to be those part time muslims who cherry pick on the Islam. Islam is taken as a whole. I don't recall any of the earlier women doing anything like that and we know that Khulaa was a fighter who fought in battles. She sets the example for us t0 learn to fight and fight when needed, but not to set a stage for ourselves and entertain and audience with men in it.

Muslim women are not for entertainment.

Of course it is right for Muslim women not to compete if they choose not to, but I just want to point out that the Olympics are not primarily entertainment.
I watched a little of the women's gymnastics and I was amazed at their grace, skill and power. The competitors represent themselves but also create pride for their country.
How do you feel about the men's figure hugging sports clothes? Is there anything wrong with those?

This may anger my Saudi's friends and others in TTI but I've to ask following questions:

- Is it true that whore and liquors easily available in Jeddah and outskirts of Makkah?
- Is it true that women especially foreigners losing their virginity while there are in Saudi?
- Is it true that there are already jews in the Holy City of Makkah?
- Is it true when taking a taxi in KSA, husband should get into and followed by his wife. Otherwise, the taxi man will drive away your wife?
- Tell me is not true that strict Islamic laws only applied in Holy City of Makkah and Madinah only?

I'm studying aqidah from an ustaz, he is born M'sian but now residing in the Holy City of Makkah. According to him, his cousins are still staying there, during the class, we were dumbstruck when he told us that non of his cousin sisters are virgin anymore. They are raped by Saudis and that his cousins are not the only victims. They are warned not to report or else they would be killed. This happen just outside the Haram. Apparently women are generally not safe in KSA? The distressed sisters in the class did asked him, don't KSA observe strict Islamic law? He said KSA is not the KSA that used to be. Islamic law is not strictly observe outskirts and other areas in KSA.

Please, I don't want to jump the gun. I'm prepared not to believe this ustaz, what bothering me is that he is staying there in Makkah so he should know better than me. Let me know, is it true?

Asalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraakaatuh,

Brother, you cannot expect a holy city to be 100% clean. Be reminded of the Hadith that mentions all hypocrites will be lured out of Mecca and Medina by Dajjal.

Brother,

I don't dispute your statement but do you know they are really happening there as claimed by this ustaz? I'm very concern.

Assalamu alaikim
I think that we as muslems should put Quran and Sunna first in our minds , the problem arise when we try to follow the steps of others in any way . There are certain islamic values we should keep in our minds and life : perfect higab , modesty , keeping away from fitna. Women can play sports but not in front of other gender. I think it is a weakness in our faith when we try to follow others blindly.

salam brothers and sisters
unfortnately people are quick to highlight any crime or wrong doing that happens insaudi,,,saudi arabia is not perfect and yes there are bad things happening
unfortunately there is quite a degree of openess in Jeddah and some of these things happen

but to generaLISE AND SAY GIRLS ARE RAPED BY SAUDIS IS VERY WRONG,,,there are maybe isolated cases, but not to this extent,,,
and not true women are not safe: women are genearlly safe in Saudi arabia

As for Makkah as someone mentioned there always have been and will be bad elements in Makkah

yes saudi is not ideal yes there are more problems than before, but please do not generalise in this way

i must agree dear sister,i cannot see how a woman competing in a sport such as judo, can be in accordance wiht laws regarding hijab and behaviour
and especially for a saudi.... iam constantly frustrated as icannot drive,, ir even walk by the sea alone in saudi, and yet a woman competes like that in front of thousands,,,
ithink there are lawas for some and different for others...women should not be attracting attention to themsleves which suhc sport is obviously doing
iam all for womens right equality and leading life as productive as men but there must be limts
