Im not a malay also...so...but my whole family speaks malay...

They dont teach jawi in the secular school eh
but i guess its easier to learn Malay than Mandarin and Tamil eh. Learning to speak them is not much problem because of our exposure to them but try learning to read and write,,, 2 completely different written characters. So could u speak any of those languages,, even a little eh
:salam2:
Its Malay... spoken both in Singapore and Malaysia,,, and slightly different from Indonesian.Malay can be romanised(latin alphabet) or arabic alphabet.
Only thing we have more alphabets than the arabic and we dont used the diacritical(َ ِ ُ ً ٍ ٌ ) We call this arabic writing as jawi ( جاوي. Anyway i think the present generation dont give much thought to jawi they rather read in romanised eh
eg -- house = rumah = رومه
eat = makan = ماكن
Assalamu caleikum,
Wouldn't it be easier to learn the alphabet and how each letters are pronounced first?
And then learn asic stuff eg: My name is..., I am 20 yrs old..
Just a thought...
Na-ma sa-ya ada-lah Libin
Umur sa-ya ada-lah 20 ta-hun
How do you say twenty?
libin
