Greeting a non-muslim

salam, okay so i know how to respond to a non-muslim if they greet me with a greeting of peace. for those of who dont know, we are supposed to say "wa alaikum".

the question is what do i say to a hindu who says khuda hafiz which is quite common (persian) way of saying goodbye in iran, afghanistan, nepal, pakistan, india.

can any knowledgeable person answer me? i would appreciate it if someone with knowledge answered instead of kids aged under 21 giving their own personal opinion.

jazak Allah

Asalamu alayukm brother

You know most of the sahabah were teenagers. For example Mus'af, Abdullah, Hafsah, Usamah, Aishah, Mu'aadh, Zaid, Asmaa, Ali, Umaar, and many more, were the youths of Islam. They have brought ISLAm to where it is now. They were all under 21.(may ALlah subhana wata'ala bless them amiin) Therefore my dear brother, we don't have to be older to have knowledge. Somone in here may have a parent who is very knowledgable or they might have went to Madarassa/quranic school to have a very good knowledge. I'm not saying i'm a scholar. I knew that when a non-muslims says " Asalamu alaykum" we are supposed to say wa-alaykum, and i'm not older than twenty one so the point is you should say "I don't want opinions". Be careful about pride brother.

And please know that my intentions are not to argue with you ya akhi. We should be a mirror to each other. If i made a mistake please feel free to point it out, and I'm asking it everyone.:)
That hurted my feelings Lol Joking.:D

I was going to give an answer to the question but sadly I am not qualified as per your qualification. :(

But remember one thing my brother. Knowledge is not something only 21+ people have. Allah (subuhaanahu wata'aala) gives it to whom He wills.

I do not want to give any more examples of great Sahabas who were 'Ulamas at their very young ages. My respected sister Zainab's examples will be more than enough for this thread I guess. Moreover, keep in mind that I am not an 'Ulama too.

qualified fatwas only please. kids just cant stop themselves from typing, wasting electricity, kinetic energy and time.

assalam 'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

I think we need to think about the following few points now.

1) Kids used to greet the elder one with the best of greetings (Salaam), but the elder one did not even respond to it although it is a Wajib for him. (May be because they are kids).

2) Kids used to talk in a polite manner keeping in mind not to make any offense, but the elder one do not want to be polite in words.

3) Kids used to help their brothers and sisters in all the ways they can and they do not mind about the cost of electricity, time and kinetic energy to make a post to an elder brother, remembering him that Kids have been doing a good job in helping both elders and youngers, but the elder one thinks helping one another in al-Haqq is a big wastage.

4) Kids are the hope of the Ummah and they have been proving it. (Read the story of Imam abu Hanifa answering to the questions of the messenger of Rome King when no ELDER one could answer. He was only 13 years old at that time. Is that more than 21? You can read it here if you want to read. http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29654&highlight=Hanifa

5) Islam does not take into account the age if they are matured. It will be great if the sins of those under age of 21 do not take into account. However, that is not the case according to Allah (subuhaanahu wata'aala). All the mankind are equal in the meezan of Allah (subuhaanahu wata'aala) exept in only one thing. That is Taqwa. NOT THE AGE.

Are these the ways Rasoolullah (sallallahu 'alaihi wasallam) thought us my brother?

I am very sorry if this seems rude. That was not my intention and please forgive me if it seems offensive.

wassalam 'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh
