TRUST in Allah [SWT]
walaikum assalam. :]

in vietnamese, we say --

anh - older brother
be - younger brother

chi - older sister
be - younger sister

"be" is pronounced as "beh"

to avoid some confusion in viet, we usually call "anh [brother's name]" because there's another meaning of "anh" too which is "husband" and the wife would call him just "anh"

=D

This is surely interesting..so many diverse backgrounds mashallah...

I'm the boring one amongst you..I speak Arabic..so all I have is *akhi* and *ukhti*..*sigh*

I wish I still remembered the Kurdish I learned when I was little so I would've shared the words with you all..but unfortunately I forgot it due to my rarely speaking it :(

But I know the words in Maltese so I'll share them (too long of a story to tell you how I learned them lol)

Brother ---> Hu
Sister ---> Oht

The word Oht is almost EXACTLY like the word for *sister* in Arabic which is Ukht/Okht (depending on how you latinize it)..which makes sense since 40% of the Maltese language is Arabic..Arabic speakers would not find a problem communicating there seriously! :)..sooo..that was my little trivia along with my life story for the day..lol..and now I will say my salams and leave the thread..ehm!

No No sister not you i was mentioning the other one from England by the username ServantofAllah or something like that your " Allah's servant" Come on, did you forget your nickname that quickly :p And I got to say Tamil is a very nice language (I say it is crap to my tamil mates though :p). For some reason all the gujis, pakistanis and bengalis take the mick out of tamil saying we speak fast, and Im like "Bah! Whatever". LOL just for the sarcastic bit of my personality, I would like to add that we tamils speak very very slowly :)(NOT).

P.S I did not know a language known as "Maltese" ever existed, infact Malteasers are my favourite chocolates (keep in mind all chocolates are my favourite ;))

As salamo alaikome...

Hahaha what a fun and interesting thread........jazakallah khairan for thinking of posting this.

I believe I am the first very boring one because my language is English so........

Brother=brother or bro (I dont use that term but alot of Americans do)
Sister=sister or sis for short (again I dont use that nickname either)

I do know a bit of Spanish because here in America Spanish seems to be like a second language and is spoken alot here.....

Brother=Hermano
Sister=Hermana

So I made myself not so boring :SMILY231::jumpclap:

No Tamils are very from Gujis both in language and lands, we are south and they are somewhere at the top of the indian map :p But they always mock tamils for jokes hehe. If you would ask an asian about tamil people they probably would say Tamils speak very very fast :p and its a common joke that tamils speak very fast, that is why i was being sarcastic :p And do not worry nothing for me to forgive u for :) And omg I didn't know servantofAllah is a sister :O see if this was arabic it would have been better. Oh well apologies to sister servantofAllah with a star.
